Installed the Total Chaos Bed Stiffeners. Just a few things left on the black truck to steal.


Got some extended brake lines from Wheeler's, but they are Trail Gear now. Hopefully the quality hasn't changed.

 

Hopefully for you it has changed. I ordered two sets from them in the past and they were both wrong

 

Got an email this morning that says I really can't have my desired plates.

The plate “BRWNTRD” may be viewed by the motoring public either directly or indirectly as indecent (defined as including a reference or connotation to a sexual act, sexual body parts, excrement, or bodily fluids or functions.

I mean that is kinda what I was going for, so I see their point.

So I'll just be a copy cat and get a camping plate like @ETXTacoma

 

Nothing wrong with camping plates.... Look cool and support state parks.

 

Yeah, it doesn't hurt my feelings at all. I'm sad I can't have a double entendre plate but one day I'll get over that.

 

Ordered a

$38 Fumoto F133S with LC-10 S-Series Large Body FUMOTO® Valve with Short Nipple and LC-10 Lever Clip for 12mm-1.25

Fumoto F133S Valve as apparently it's better than the

$37 F103N with LC-10 lever clip FN-Series Engine Oil Drain Valve, 1 Pack

F103N on the black truck.

Also ordered a new antenna and wire for the

$165 MXT275 MicroMobile GMRS Radio - 15 watts Two-Way Radio with Integrated Control Microphone - Overland Caravanning Tractors - Detachable External Magnetic Mount Antenna - 8 Repeater Channels

MXT275 radio, they should play nicely with the NMO mount from GFC for a nice clean permanent install instead of the magnetic antenna it has now.

I currently have 2 FWD trucks chilling on jack stands. Soon I'll have two Prerunners that happen to have transfer cases.

Uh oh half your truck looks to have flopped! Hopefully it continues to only happen intentionally like this. After this isntall is the GFC ready to be transferred over?

 

Made some good progress today. Pulled the bed to do some welding. A DMZ Fab frame plating kit is the priority. Next a Ruffstuff single Odyssey battery box.

Last night tacked in the nuts for the @ARCHIVE hammer hangers since the won't be accessible any more. Also got the 2 rear pairs of plates in.

Then we got pizza and beer

 

Not gonna get to the shocks this weekend so the GFC will move to a buddy's truck for the summer so the black truck can go bye-bye

 

Busy weekend with several wins and a few losses. @desertjunkie760 did a lot of welding, I wandered around with a wire wheel and grinder.

Got the DMZ Fab frame boxing kit fully installed with only one small fire.


Finally cut the CMC and smashed the pinch weld flat. Still need to cut some plastic out of the way but trying to cut as little as possible so that's a work in progress.


Today went out to Oriflamme Canyon and met up with @AY_ARONTRD and @Prayn4surf


The truck is looking great so far and I'm quite happy with the progress. Still some big changes to make before I get back to traveling for work in July.

Met the crew all the way out at S2 and the ride back up showed that skill, tires, and flex are no substitute for 4wd. Twice some loose rocks and twisty trail stopped me and had to get pulled up. Several times I picked my line poorly and had to back up and try again.

 

The correct battery box is on it’s way, I called in the order and they sent me an Optima box instead of the Odyssey one I need. A quick call and the one I actually want is headed south. The call to Wheeler’s about their brake lines was less satisfying. Apparently I didn’t turn them in the correct direction despite trying them several ways and having the bed off for easy access. I’ll have to try that one again this weekend.

With some timely assistance from @cwadej I got the @Mobtown Offroad High Clearance Rear installed. I was a lot less scared to cut this truck than the black truck and made quick work of the bedsides.

And all mounted up with the @Baja Designs Flush Mount S2 work lights installed. Still some cleaning up of the cuts to do.

Apparently the life of a 4wd rental vehicle is more exciting than the Carfax would lead you to believe. Some evidence of some dent repair on the driver’s side fender.

Some more Red Baron accent pieces. The frame bracket and bedside bracket looking all shiny and new.

Got lucky after routing my homemade wiring harness for the lights up to the Switch-Pros 9100 @AY_ARONTRD installed for me. I had about 4” of slack which was just enough to add a terminal lug and hook it up.

I’ll have to get some better pictures tomorrow after I trim it up a bit more.


The swing gates will keep hanging out in my bedroom until we get the welding projects all finished up. I don’t feel like installing and removing them multiple times so I’ll just carry my spare in the bed like a normal person.

Youre not a normal person shay cmon dont sell yourself short. Youre special

 

Also I believe I have eliminated all wheel rubbing during normal on-road driving. Had been rubbing backing into the sloped driveway but got that handled so no more strange looks from dog walkers.

 

Don't you get those regardless?
