This thread just motivated me to pull the trigger on the Baxter Oil filter relocation kit. Worth every penny in my opinion.

I'm always a bit surprised when people act as though this filtration setup is something new. The 2GR made it's debut in 2004 in the '05 Avalon. For nearly 16 years the 3.5 has had the same setup in Avalons, Camrys, Highlanders, Siennas, Venzas, RAV4s, FJs, 4Runners, ES350s, RX350s, GS350s, IS350s and for the last 5 years...the Tacoma. Not to mention all the other engines Toyota has that use this setup. But so many people still refer to it as "this new thing".

I guess if you haven't ever been exposed to it....it's new. :notsure:

for this 75 year old fart removing and reinstalling the skid plate to get at the filter is a pain. it's not hard, just clumsy, irritating part of the process. i prefer old school, just open the hood, spin off, spin on, done!

Yes i agree. Although, a lot of guys will say that just because the oil is black, doesnt mean its not cleaning/lubricating anymore. They might be right, but i drive about 8k miles a year, so its a no brainer for me. Im keeping her till the wheels fall off pretty much. Even if i did drive her more, i would still do it every 5-6k miles.

I love getting underneath and inspecting the undercarriage.

I agree, a breeze, as my C7 Corvette is only has 3-3/4" of ground clearance, has two oil drain plugs to deal with and you have to remove and replace 10 qts of oil. Now that's a pain.

I grew up loving the Viper, everybody had or wanted a Corvette, seemed so Vanilla. The C8 is cool though, they really took a gamble abandoning tradition - definitely payed off.

It's got 5 or 6 difference cluster screens to choose from, the one above is the "Track" screen, definitely info overload.
The Grandsport handling with it's Magnetic Ride Control where the shocks/suspension, handling/steering and braking all work together is what really impresses me.
When you go into a curve too fast and a car will typically start to roll or rise up, you can feel the Grandsport's MRC actually pushing you down into the curve.
The faster you take the curve the more stable the car becomes as opposed to the opposite.
