    Welcome!

I don’t know of many “just the basics” type of sites or channels but I’m sure they’re out there. Someone else will likely be able to give some recommendations.

For now I would highly suggest looking through your owners manual and then familiarizing yourself with the basic recommended services. There are plenty of specific tutorials on all of that.

TLDR: read manual, if you have questions YouTube or tacomaworld

That was going to be my first post too! YouTube is awesome! Whatever you think you might want to do to your truck, someone has done it, recorded doing it, and posted it on YouTube. Usually they list all of the tools required.
Best resource I've ever seen. And the best part is if there is a job you don't want to tackle, you'll know before you attempt to do it.
Welcome to the world of Toyota Tacomas! If you take care of it by doing all of the routine maintenance, it will last a very long time!

A follow on post: be specific when searching YouTube. If you own a 2015 Toyota Tacoma, type "2015 Toyota Tacoma oil change." That should take you to YouTube videos showing your year of Tacoma.
Remember that Tacomas have been around since 1995, and there are three generations. If you just search "Toyota Tacoma oil change," you'll probably get videos from every year of Tacoma, and you'll have to sort through the videos to find your specific model.

I learned about cars and mechanics by buying an old volkswagen beetle in high school and keeping it running using a wonderful book "how to keep your volkswagen alive, a manual for the compleate idiot" and with help from a friend. Mistakes were made, tears were shed, triumphs of heinous backyard engineering fuckery abounded. Many good times.

These days we have a wonderful resource in YouTube. Since some of that stuff is created by morons though, so just make sure you watch a couple videos covering the same topic when possible. For vehicle basics like overviews of what parts are called and how they work you should be pretty safe though.

If you have a neighbor nearby that has race cars or old cars around and you persistently hear the "brrrrrp" of an impact wrench and/or "bzzzzz" of welding and grinding coming from over there you might walk over and make friends. Most any "car guy" will let you help them out in the shop during free time in exchange for you learning by osmosis. I picked up a lot this way too. They love having an extra set of hands and a tool gopher around. You get to learn from their success and failure, win win!

I think this is one of the best ways to learn anything really. If you want to learn how to golf, hang out with golfers.

    Welcome!
