I took off the chin spoiler of my 2020 tacoma 4x4 because I personally thinks it looks better, more clearance when I want to go off-roading in the future, and haven't gotten any affect on my gas mileage yet. My only concern is small rocks and other debris from the road messing up the underside of my truck.. Should I be worried or is the stock skid plate enough to protect my truck? I just got the truck like 2 weeks ago so don't mind the wheelsIMG_3041.jpgIMG_3043.jpg

Looks much better with that goofy thing removed.

Welcome  and you'll be fine without the air dam. My truck didn't even bring it and if it did that would have been the first thing I took off. Enjoy your new truck!

If you want to go off roading, you prob have to get the full under carriage skid plate and remove the running boards for sliders and get some beefier tires.

The offroad model comes like that standard, it looks way better.

I think all Tacomas should toss those chin spoilers, makes it look like a truck.

Yeah I was definitely going to get rid of the running boards and get new wheels before I go off roading, but wasn't sure which skid plate to buy to replace the ones I have on now

Just remember that adding weight and bigger tires diminishes your mpg so don’t be surprised if it drops.

@Mobtown Offroad skids. I’ve beat the hell outta mine and just kept going. Never anything more than scrapes on them. Also Joe offers excellent customer service. My front skid was damaged in transit & the carrier returned it without notifying anyone. I was on vacation in Key West at the time and called Joe. He immediately sent a replacement out so shortly after I returned the new skid arrived.

You can also reach out to @state48overland and speak to Erick. He works with Mobtown also. You will not find better customer service than what Erick provides.

There’s some flaky people in the off road community and I find that their customer service has really stood out amongst the numerous people I’ve done business with. You can’t go wrong with either of them.

I didn't notice the chin spoiler being an issue when I first got the truck but since I removed mine, I cannot unsee other trucks that still have them. It should be everyones first mod IMO.

Be careful, it's there for a reason, it routes airflow for proper cooling.....

There is no way the chin spoiler routes airflow. It cannot route airflow into a grill because it's too far inbound below the bumper.. It just hides the frame behind it.

So why doesn't it come on all models?

Sorry, your wrong, you think it was engineered to be there for it's good looks??
It is there for airflow routing......it routes airflow for improved aerodynamics and for cooling......end of story

Depends on airflow requirements of the design of the model....

Aerodynamics, maybe. But absolutely not for cooling. That is just silly.

It's not a Riddler contender. Just keep it cleaned off. Minor road rash is on every vehicle ever driven. And that piece of dime store plastic isn't really protecting much. Might kill a bug or two I guess.

Depends what you consider 'off road'. It's more a 'I want folks to think I off road' piece than serious protection. But it's adequate for moderate terrain. Big rocks and stumps, not so much.

Again, depends on terrain. They won't hold up to getting whacked. Not everyone needs sliders. But if you do, the right ones can double as 'running board' steps.

You don't need new wheels. You 'might' need a tire upgrade, again, depending on where you are going.

Many people jump in with both feet to build something and have no idea what they actually need to be successful in how they will use the vehicle.

Some think it's better to use it, then change pieces you learn would benefit your use of the vehicle.

You genius engineers must have not studied negative pressure airflow or aerodynamics.....you believe what you want
to justify your actions.....over and out

Yeah because my truck has been over heating in 90+ degree weather with the A/C on since I removed it, Mr. Toyota engineer.

We are talking trim model. On the same truck.

The OR doesn't have it. Others do.

Pretty simple to determine it's not 'required' or it would be on all trims. With 'do not remove' stickers on it.
