I recently did the ECGS bearing on my 2015 and it took out all the play in the cv until I drove it. I checked today it’s it’s back to how it was before with a pretty significant amount of play both up and down and side to side. Anybody experience this before or have any idea what could have happened. Truck had no noises or vibrations while driving so far.

Are the vibes gone? My CVs always had a bit of play. Before and after.

The CVs are somewhat flexible by design at each end of the axle so if you’re just grabbing the axle and moving it, that’s normal. The ECGS bushing is meant to reduce play at the axle entering the diff. There’s no way to manipulate it to test for movement without removing the inner boot. If you’re vibes are gone then I’d say your install was successful.

There is movement when I grab it where it enters the diff which I thought the bearing would get rid of. I don’t have vibrations so I guess it worked for that

If you have no vibes, noises, or leaks.
Then I’d just drive it and call it good.

Is it the stock Toyota CV axle or is it an aftermarket replacement?

My 2015 has the same play as everyone else has described. Apparently it is normal. I did the same as you and was worried that something was wrong but all research led me to believe that it is normal.
