taking long and long to fire up

yes it's getting bit colder but that should be the reason for my truck to be taking long and long to fire up

i had the battery tested and it's fine

i cleaned off the terminals as they were getting corroded, no real difference

anything else i should look for or can test clean?

any other significan ground points etc?

take about 3 or so seconds to fire up....this is my first 6 cyl so maybe i just need to get used to it but even when i bought the truck a couple months ago it would fire up almost instanly

ok well after i posted that i left work....i park in an underground parkade so it's not like it's freezing....truck took around 4 seconds and barely fired up, as if it coughed on the first go

this has happend before

ideas? i don't think it's the charging systems or else the battery wouldn't have tested good (and it was tested after a 30 min drive)

ok i'll get the battery load tested....does that show the CCA? cause that was tested too...580 cca

as for the fuel pump, it's runs perfect, no hesitation at all

should i maybe let it prime a little more before just cranking it ove?

Check your fuel pressure.
There's a check ball after the fuel pump to hold pressure in the system. When it fails, it takes a longer for the fuel pump to catch up.
if you turn the ignition on and listen for the fuel pump to run, it should only run for two seconds or so.
I am assuming your fuel filter is good, though. Replace it if you have any doubt as to its condition.

 

is this check ball replaceable? or it is part of the fuel pump?

At what mileage is it recommended to replace the fuel filter?

 

Are u cranking it over right away? I always turn the ignition to on...wait about 3-5 secs for the pump and fuel injectors to kick it...then turn it over...she fires up very quickly everytime oh ya and you probably already know this but don't pump the gas pedal

I think it's part of the fuel sending assy. Check with the dealership. I know for sure they exsist, just not sure where. Gm's were in the sending unit.

as for the fuel filter, stoped at a dealership yesterday and the parts chick tells me it's special order wtf??

After you take care of the fuel filter, check your fuel pressure. Since letting it prime doesn't make a difference, it sounds less like a fuel problem and more like weak ignition.
Did you already check plugs, wires, coil, and distributor(I don't remember which ign setup the 1st gen has)
Check your fuel pressure. Check the ignition for arc marks, grey discoloration lines, on the wires, boots, coils etc.
