Afternoon everyone. Trying to play catch up here. I spent the weekend over in CA helping #1 son get moved, what a party... However, #2 son and I managed to get in a river trip on the SF of American River on the way, no pics but several beers were consumed. Good times overall.

I appreciate it. I just try to let them experience stuff and keep them active. They had their tablets for a little bit today while we sat around, but they also climbed a pile of rocks, chased Buzz & Cooper around, checked out the shop, and grilled us some hot-dogs. They're keepers for sure :).

Man, they love it. Claire (the 4 year old) likes to participate, but she hasn't gotten "the bug" yet for it. It's okay, she still has fun doing what Dad and big sis are doing. It might become her thing, but we'll see.

Stella (the 7 year old) pops in to the kitchen when she hears me tearing foil because she wants to see what sort of BBQing is about the happen. Claire thought it was "so cool". Stella got a little shy, but was just really caught up in the fact that she has a grill to cook on. I could tell it meant a lot to her (video a little below). She was torn between getting the grill going (her and Claire did everything but use the lighter) and helping lay a couple welds for a Maverick Stove I am needing to finish. We got her involved in both.

Both girls then cooked us some hotdogs. Same bit - Claire participated, Stella was fully engaged. They turned out great!

I appreciate it, Frank. They're good kids. I just try to keep them involved in stuff. Stella is really taking a liking to it. She'll be at the shop plenty more.

Here is the reveal! Stella was a little shy, but she was really absorbing that she had herself a grill to cook on. It definitely means a lot to her. Claire thought it was so neat.

HUGE thank you to Maner. Not that I'm telling anyone in this thread something they don't already know, but what a great guy. It means a lot to me that he thought of the girls with this project.

This pic says it all (to be fair, Claire gave a hug, too :D):

Stella learned the tough lesson that the cook often has to serve and always eats last

Maner and I had decided that today was just for chilling. No work in the shop. Of course, that didn't last too long. I had a Maverick Stove to finish up and Stella wanted to weld. That was enough of an excuse to get the girls in the shop for a little bit. Here is Stella helping weld the stove to the base.

Claire didn't grab the gun, but she donned a hood and watched for a little bit. She talked a lot about that on the way home!

Here's my dog, Pippa, hanging out with Roscoe:

And, of course, it isn't a trip out to Maner's without me making a fool of myself, so here's me falling through a chair. About 10 minutes earlier, Cindy said it was an old chair. I said, "I'll get a different chair whenever my ass touches the gravel." It was weirdly prophetic.

Great day. I'd say we hung out for about 4 and a half hours. What a fun time with Maner, Cindy, and the doggies. The girls are whipped! They are on the hook for some burgers tomorrow on their new grill ;).

That’s really cool, glad you and your wife got to have that cool experience with them. I’m sure they will be wanting to cook on it often.
