My welds usually dont look too pretty.

 

Your nesting software is shit. That amount of waste is unacceptable.

Welds look great, CNC cut table, not so much.

For what it's worth, i knew you weren't using any software for "nesting".. I just wanted peeps to research some of the amazing things those programs can do. I know I'm amazed every time.

 

If using fusion 360, I’m not sure you can nest parts on there yet. They’re still coming out with it

 

I can't imagine them not having it.

 

I haven’t messed with fusion too much but I do think I remember seeing it there. I’ve messed with solid works a bit too and they have it. I don’t think solid works has a free version though.

 

Ya I use fusion360 and SheetCam. Fusion is on my decent computer, along with SolidWorks. But SheetCam is only on the ass computer that runs the table. So I tend to not put the effort in

 

I'm just starting to learn F360. It is a heavyweight program. I had to build a PC with extra ram to be able to use F360.

 

i don’t use the software I draw the dxf files in to nest parts. I use sheetcam, that’s the program that I do my post processing in, it has a few nesting options. But if you aren’t running a thc nesting isn’t always the best idea.

 

Finally got back to doing some newbie practice. Although I intend to get a bottle, I want to make sure I can do flux core passably well. I consider this an improvement.

Oh and here’s my dumbass moment for a laugh. Turns out there’s protective plastic film on BOTH sides of the welding lens cover... Took the other off and I could finally see a helluva lot better. DOH!

 

Nice! Looks like you could use a little more heat based off the spatter in that first pic.

 

I think you got a good idea on what the welds are to look like, just a matter of dialing it in.

When you switch to gas you are going to find your welds look magical.

Made myself a little doodad out of some scrap 3/16” so I can transport 20’ sticks of round tube. Front part will just rest in between my door and rear view mirror. And of course all strapped down.

 

will be interested to see it in use. I’m getting all of my tubing cut into 10’ sticks for transport
