New Taco owner

Hi everybody,

I just got my new Tacoma double cab SR5 trim and comes with a long bed. I’m a little bit worried knowing that tailgates can easily stolen. What I did is park really close to a tree, it so happens my parking spot have tree at the end. I locked the tailgate and hopefully no one will attempt to steal it. It only have about less than 12 inches against a tree.

Also, can anybody recommend a good bed cover. I am assuming that with the cover, the tailgate is a little secured.

I also have a camping trailer and thinking of towing it with my taco. Any advice of what kind of brake controller to buy? I got a single axle with 2300 lbs dry weight.

Welcome Nel, I have been looking at the Redarc brake controller from etrailer.
Only a small knob to operate it, only one hole to drill. The brain box goes elsewhere so you don't bang your knee on it.
Seems like a good idea but I haven't done the research on durability yet. Link here:

Thanks for the fast reply. I looked also the bluetooth brake controller that can be connected to 7 pin wiring. I am just wondering if it will work just fine. I have 5-7 campings every year. Maybe that will do the trick. It is far different with my previous truck that comes with the brake controller. I’ll keep posted with pics when it happens.
