Can you not just keep it in a locked case in the trunk/bed and call it good? I thought FOPA, the federal law, allowed that. I did a quick search and didn’t see anything saying transporting an “assault rifle” is a no go.

I was gonna throw the gun itself in the locked toolbox, and the unloaded magazines in the under-seat storage. Planning on not getting pulled over though.

 

This as well. Most states have laws where if you don’t stop forward movement/progress, you are transporting a weapon through their state. The minute you stop for gas or stay in a hotel, you are bringing a firearm across state lines, which may be illegal depending on the firearm/state

If you run up 81, you really only have Hagerstown to worry about. Or go further west to Morgantown and void it altogether.

 

I saw that too which I thought was odd. I wouldn’t sweat it though. Just keep it locked, out of reach and any ammo separate. And try not to stop and you’ll be fine.

Hopefully it was just a one time spit up from your diff. I got an Engine Oil Level Low message on the way to the lake, and after talking to Jerry, figured it was when we were parked sideways on that bank to let the Range Rovers pass by. Our trucks are protesting being taken out of Mall Crawl mode!
