New to the forum but I just wanted to brag on Headstrong. I've had 6112's on order from three places, each of them swiped my credit card then got back to me a few days later to tell me they didn't have any more 6112's so as soon as I'd see the refund show up I'd go out and try a different vendor. Finally, I came on TW and found this thread and then immediately went to Headstrong and saw that they had them in stock. I sent an email and Marie responded right away so I said, "Here....take my money!"

Anyway, I have the 6150's already sitting in my garage, along with a set of TRD Pro wheels, new TP sensors, and black lugs.

I'll know where to go from now on!

Has anyone put 3rd gen 6112's on a 2nd gen?

Since the stock 3rd gen suspension on a 2nd gen gives roughly 3/4" of lift I am thinking the 3rd gen 6112's may give 2nd gens a little more lift. The reason I ask is it seems like many 2nd gens end up settling to about 2" max, even with no added weight.

I think you have it backwards. I could be wrong but the way I understood it is the 3rd gen 6112's give less lift because the 3rd gens come stock 1" higher than 2nd gens. You are correct in that if you swapped stock front shocks and coils (3rd to 2nd) you get some lift? (hey cheap way for a 2nd gen to lift the front - add a small spacer and level it for dirt cheap and get newer shocks while you're at it) Maybe headstrong can verify this?

Does anyone here have experience with Icon RXT packs? Wanting to run 6112's on 600lb springs w/ SPC uppers in the front. And use an Icon RXT pack w/ 5160s in the rear and a u-bolt flip kit w/ bumpstops.

@HeadStrong Off-Road Do you know when or if you will have RXT packs in stock anytime soon?

Thanks for the reply. I've heard the dakars ride rough unless you have plenty of weight.

how do these compare to the 5100s? Are they still digressive? I'm assuming you still lose down travel?

The RXT's are stiff, but not rough on 2nd setting, but I dont carry weight everyday. I set it up that way cuz when I do carry lots of camping gear in summertime, I dont want a slumpy ass end. Also tow a pop-up a few times a year.

Yes I cant get all the travel theRXT's provide unless I get a longer rear shock. Thinking of going to B110's down the line. Already have the extended brake lines. Im not certain if the 5160's are digressive, but the 6112's are. EDIT: they are.

Have you done any wheeling with the 6112s? The reason I ask is because I was reading about Icons and supposedly even though they are marketed as digressive. accutuneoffroad did some testing/dissection found them to be a linear setup. This was however for an FJ cruiser so it's possible different models for different applications could be different. Anyways, to jump back a little bit I'm curious what your opinion on the 6112s is offroading. The 5100s are great on road which I think many people will agree with, but offroad they throw my truck around. I just got back from a trip where I was on a lot of rocky trails and I was really disappointed with the 5100s. I think it's time for an upgrade, I'm trying to figure out if I should go for a moderate setup and if that will suffice or if I should just go all out and drop 3-4k on kings or something "premium". I know a premium setup will outperform a mid entry setup, but if a mid entry setup will give me the performance I'm looking for that'll save me money for other mods. I just dont want to drop 2k on suspension only to find that I need a different setup and sink more money into it.

Thats exactly why I went the 6112/5160 route. Couldnt justify the price of a top end coilover setup. The kind of wheeling I do is slow and creeping style, but not crawling, often on really rocky terrain like eastern Oregon deserts and western Oregon logging roads. Also does veru well on the highway, though I am about to delete the swaybar. Potholes at speed can be jarring. I cant compare it to Kings etc., cuz Ive never had those. I'm sure others will chime in offering their takes on those kind of setups. The only other coilover system I had was on my 98 TRD AC, it was I believe a Downey C/O which Im thinking is along the lines of a 5100/Toytec Ultimate system but I could be wrong they dont exist anymore. That thing was smooth as hell at speed on rough ass roads. In the end I had to take a leap and buy something so I went with the lower priced option, hoping it would pan out. I am more than satisfied with it.

Installed 5160s this weekend. Was fairly straight forward. Only hiccup was needing to saw down a corner on one of the reservoir mounting brackets. There was a weird notch that it wouldn’t sit properly in. Getting 6112s and camburg UCAs installed tomorrow!

yeah the hd pack. I’ve only had them on for a week so I can’t say much yet. Definitely stiffened things but I’ll get a better idea once the rest of my suspension is installed.

For those of you with the 6112s and have bumped up to 700# springs, which ones did you go with?

I didn’t measure my rear droop when I had the stock leaf pack but with my RXT’s on Option 1, center of hub to bottom of fender at full droop is 28 1/4” with my Baja Bilstein’s(TRD-tuned 5160). Going off of photographic memory, I believe I did gain additional down travel with the RXT pack.

I got a set of 700# Eibach springs from Wheeler's. Supposedly, Eibach is the OEM supplier to Bilstein for the 600# springs.

Here is a quick simple fix for those squeaky leafs (outside of greasing your bushings as well). I do mine every 6 months and haven't had a problem
    https://youtu.be/yPp9X4JdwHI
3:39 is the start of how to grease, and he uses WD-40 extreme pressure grease. I use Formula 5 from energy suspension.
