I just keep up with everything Destiny related since I pretty much have too. But it bled over into the videos I watch. And it kept on bleeding over into those videos. That's when I looked to see what was going on. After that? Fuck it.

 

I got so into LoU that I sat and watched a guy play the whole game on YouTube. I didn't have a PS4 then. After that it took a bit but the PS4 came home and that was the first purchase for it.

 

I'm just hoping I can get a PS5 on pre order. The PS4 was nowhere to be found after launch. It was about 4-5 months before I saw one sitting on the shelf. Back at the start of this thread, I was able to just go out and buy an Xbox with no issue. They were everywhere after launch because it just wasn't as popular as the PS4. When I bought the Xbox there were 6 or so sitting on the shelf at Walmart. I was lucky because I had a friend that worked at GameStop and he held a PS4 back for me on the launch day. So I was able to get one pretty easily. I don't have that luxury this time since he no longer works there. So I'm going to have to figure out how to pre order one. There are stores right now that are taking pre orders on the pre orders. That's how popular the PS5 is.

 

I haven't even looked at the new specs yet. Not buying another on anytime soon anyway. PS4 is only a year and a half old anyway and hardly used.

 

It was such a great game (still is). I played through it twice. Once, when it came out and then the upgraded edition for the PS4 Pro. It is truly the best game I've ever played. I remember when I finished it the first time I thought to myself... I hope they never make a sequel. It was a perfect ending to a perfect game. I spent a week or so thinking about the ending and what I would have done. But it was the best game ever. I like watching the reaction videos on youtube on The Last of Us lol.

The specs between the Xbox and PS5 are similar. The only thing that I've heard is every game developer has said that it is easier to make games for the PS5 for technical reasons I don't understand.

But the Unreal Engine on the PS5 is un fucking believable.

Well since I've got the PS4 Pro, Xbox1, Wii U and a switch I think I'm set for a bit. lol Too many damn platforms.

 

I sold the Xbox about 6 months after I bought it. I was really waiting for Titanfall. I played it for a while and it just didn't turn out to be what I wanted it to be. It was a console seller for me but in the end it just wasn't that great.

I've got 4 PS4 Pros. One for my daughter, one that I play on all the time, one in our bedroom, and one that I use exclusively for running account recoveries for Destiny. So I've got backups in case one of them goes down. I haven't had that happen yet but I'd hate to get a recovery request and not be able to complete it because of a system failure.

I bought my daughter a Switch with an extra controller. My wife and her play it all the time. I bought Zelda for it because The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time is one of my favorite games ever. I've played a little bit of it and it is a good game. But I just don't have the time to finish it.

 

I can’t wait until people realize to really enjoy all the features of their new consoles that they’ll need to spend $2K plus on an OLED adaptive sync ready TV with HDMI 2.1. Otherwise they will just be dumping extra frames and seeing tearing like high end PCs when people skimp on their monitor.

Also those Unreal engine captures were done on a 2080Ti PC. Which kind of sucks, I wish they were legit console captures. Both companies seem hesitant to be the first to put real hardware in front of an audience.

 

I don't mind spending the money on a new monitor. The one I'm using right now was $1500 and was completely worth it.

The UnReal video I posted earlier was captured running PS5. Even if it were captured on a PC I don't care. In reality... It's not going to make much of a difference with what and how I play. I don't play on a PC for two reasons:

1: Every computer I own are Macs. I've got over $10k worth of Macs in the house (not including all of the iPads). I do have an Alienware computer sitting in my closet but I don't use it.

2: The overwhelming amount of cheat codes being used in Destiny 2 on PC is stupid. So I'll stick with consoles.

The real hardware and specs have already been released. The PS5 already had their hardware reveal so I'm not sure what you are talking about when you say that they are hesitant to put the "real hardware in front of the audience"? Hell... I'm just waiting on the pre order right now.

It won't surprise me if the PS5 without the disk drive starts between $500 - $600. The PS5 with the disk drive will most likely be $100 more. I don't care what the price is. I'm going to buy it. And I'll also buy the best Ultra Wide monitor that has at least a refresh rate of 120Hz since the PS5 will support that. So that will most likely be $2000 for the ones I'm looking at right now. I don't play on a TV since I sit about three feet from the monitor. The thing is... I play Destiny 2 almost exclusively. I play it for fun then I play it for money on the weekends (who would have ever thought that you could make money playing a video game?). But until Destiny changes the engine they are running on, it's going to look the same with the exception of running at 60fps instead of 30fps without any frame rate drops and an FOV slider. But the game will look the same until they update their engine.

Easy there friend. I'm not pulling the PC master race card. I play consoles, somethings are just better on large format TVs over monitors and I'll probably grab a Xbox Series X when they release.

That unreal video was captured from a PC. This has been confirmed. I'll try to find a source this morning but no PS5 hardware was used from what I read which I found misleading since Sony promoted it. That's not a knock on the preview really though. The preview was meant to show the direction the Unreal engine is taking, which is using the shader memory on the console or PC to hold background frame information ahead of its use. PS5 is selling on it's memory access since that's where it is supposed to shine over PC/Xbox. I guess we will see what that means eventually.

Cool you own so many Macs? I wasn't showing off my dick size lol. I've owned Macs. They aren't for me but that doesn't mean anything. I also have fine things and leather bound books you may enjoy .

I want to see game play in real time. Everyone does. Previews don't do it for me. I want to see hardware in front of eyes running real games on the real hardware. Then we can see if any of the marketing hype from either console is worth going with one or the other. Until we have IRL gameplay, everything can and is likely faked. I'm glad with your $10K in Apple tax you just want to pre-order but I'd like to see something that motivates me to chose Microsoft or Sony. I bought a PS4 as a Xbox fan due to the gameplay and user friendly features it had at launch over the Xbox One. I ended up buying both eventually but I wanted to see both before pulling that trigger.

Yeah, I expect the same price. I think we won't see as much demand at that price point, kind of like what happened with the PS3 when it launched. Super high initial demand with lots of consoles available a month out due to lower then expected demand. Point blank AMD has created some monster hardware for these consoles and there will be a price to pay for that. You'll need a TV/Monitor with HDMI 2.1 to get above 60 hz and 4K (with or without adaptive sync) to take total advantage of the hardware. Right now HDMI 2.1 is on a handful of TVs/Monitors. Most of the TVs are over $1.5K. I actually haven't seen any monitors sporting HDMI 2.1 yet. I'd wait to pull the trigger on a display device until closer to launch. I would expect around then we will see some compatible technology hit the market.

If you can play games for cash more power to you man. I'm no where that good, I was at one time but age killed that. I was ranked elite in CS:Go at one point. Now I'm gold lol. I wasn't going to console versus PC but for sure one is like NASCAR and one is like F1 in the open world. Consoles historically, even with the refreshes, leave a pretty level playing field though hacks do happen. PCs, well, a skilled player with a high end system and a 360 hz monitor obviously gets an edge.

I'm not defensive. I was just stating the facts of what and how I play. Not showing my dick size since I own Pro versions of Macs. I use them for video / photo editing so I need them.

The fact remains that I will buy a PS5 when it comes out. I don't care what the price is. And I'll also buy a compatible monitor that will work with the PS5 and it will be an Ultra Wide monitor. Simple as that.
