Yeah i figured mine is going to be a story to tell until Christmas. My favorite thing to hate was putting in tico nails, which are 1 1/2 inch nails with a diameter of a 16 penny. They’re used with a hurricane clip which attaches roof rafters to the walls of a house. I hit my thumb repeatedly so much that in frustration I drove my hammer through a 1/2 inch plywood. I’m a klutz with a hammer

Just take a small drill bit and turn it by hand, it’s easy and painless. You will be glad you did.

I consulted my external brain (Google) and here’s what it said:
The surface waters of the Atlantic Ocean are a lot saltier than the Pacificsurface water (Fig. ... 2) may explain the salty North Atlantic. The freshwater evaporating from the North Atlanticsubtropics feeds excess rainfall in the Pacific Ocean's western tropical regions. The Atlantic gets salty, the Pacific gets fresher.

That’s a good thought but nope, prevailing winds on the left coast are from china heading to Europe

I think the majority of the issue is the relative humidity. On the east coast do our cars ever really have a chance to dry completely?

I was actually able to get to the screw from behind the panel. Took a while to get it out with pliers, but it worked.

    this and that...
debadged my truck. gonna put this puppy (pic below) on the tailgate. i dunno where yet though. also bought a 2020 pro catback (black trd) and urd ypipe. i like my exhaust more on the louder side, and i know the trd catback isnt too loud, so im hoping the ypipe makes it more audible. when i had my xrunner, i had the urd ypipe coupled with a fm super 44 and it sounded wicked. hoping i can get a similar experience.

Alright doll-face, c'mon and bore me!
I was thinking along these lines. That would explain SoCal, being largely a desert (shhhh... don't tell anyone :)), but coastal NoCal, Oregon, and Washington don't seem to have the same rust problems as the coastal Southeast, either. Though I could be completely wrong here. An argument for it having to with the lower salinity and colder temperature of the Pacific might be Hawaii. They don't seem to have a big problem with rust, either (again, I could be completely wrong).

In any event, thanks for all the replies and theories. I just thought it was interesting.
