i have a 2012 tacoma that keeps popping the ig1 no 2 fuse when I turn the ignition on. AC is off

p0500 error code . none else
could the VSS cause the fuse to pop?

no speedo, windows AC cnsole cluster power.

    truck is stock.

Ive read through the forum on all these issues but still stuck. ive pulled the mtg/ctr and it still pops. pulled resistor for blower motor. still pops. the trailer connector is nice and clean.

Everything was functional yesterday AC worked no problems, get in today and bam.

Here are the circuits powered by that fuse:

On the trailer towing socket. Just because it Looks Clean doesn't mean there is no issue. Unplug it and see if the fuse blowing goes away.

I would work through the different circuits one at a time (from most likely to least likely) until it no longer blows.

Or if you have a meter go through each circuit looking for a ground or short circuit.

well after 8 hours of going through every circuit on the truck I found it. I found it was a dead short caused by a fray on the wiring going to the rear view mirror. One of the hot wires had worn though right through the insulation. It was shorting to ground. guess years of vibration finally took its toll. 8 hours and some shrink wrap/ tape and zipties fixed it. Not a fan of finding dead shorts with no wiring schematics

I feel your pain. I chased an intermittent issue with my Miata back in the day. Car would hit just the right bump and the engine would sputter or cut for just a split second. Never could reproduce while parked.

Went on for about a year, slowly getting more common. Just before I broke down and bought a replacement engine harness (by this point I had tracked it that far) I found a hot wire that powered the cam position sensor worn through the insulation grounding out.

I’d hit a bump, wire would short, engine would kill, loss of engine load would jerk engine on its mounts, and that would jerk the wire back off the engine. All of that happened fast enough the engine never died, just hiccuped. Ten cents worth of electrical tape and a wire clamp to secure the harness fixed it.

Good job. I’m impressed. That single fuse feeds so many circuits that I knew it was going to be a challenge.
