No. It's not necessary. I just finished today. First time I've ever done a roof. If I could start the first half again it would cone out much better. Did the whole thing for under $300 and about 10 hours time. I was working old school. Swinging the hammer.
    My knee isn't too happy.

Not that great on knees and back. Looks good. I could do my roof when the time comes in about 5-10 years, no later . It’s a 7or 8 pitch so I would need some staging. By then I would not be interested in the labor that’s involved and would just hire someone

Yeah, this was just a shed, 5 packs of shingles...I had my house done by the pros a few years back...I don't mess with that. Just the stripping of the old shingles is too much work...let alone laying down the new...

Do you have one of those shingle strippers? Looks like a weird shovel with teeth for pulling nails. Makes stripping off shingles much easier.

The blessing of it all was the shed roof was installed with STAPLES...so it was easy to strip with a flat edge shovel...but that's also why the roof was such a leaky P.O.S. :)

Ooooh....Massachusetts can redemption centers can open on the 16th...and I just discovered there's a state recycling center that takes ALL Ma. stamped cans right near my work!! Wegman's machines is what I usually use but they are still shut down...I have probably 300 cans...

I believe they can already open or at least the locals places here already did. It felt good to purge those cans haha

Great, the transfer station is next door and they haven't taken the cans in forever and its smelling for the first time we've ever lived here. I think that's brining in some bears too.

I never looked into this, is this open to R.I. residents of we pay a deposit? I’m in East prov and go into seekonk all the time and end up paying the deposit over there but then they just end up recycled.

When you pay the deposit you can return the can or bottle and get it back. Our town school takes the cans that are brought to the dump and returns them to pay for their downhill ski program.

edit: if your state doesn't do this, you can easily drive to another and return that does. Some states give more than others as well.

You'd need a lot of cans though to make it worth it with the time and gas.

so RI doesn't charge the deposit. That's my question is if as an RI resident I'm fine to go return bottles and cans I paid a deposit on in MA. I live right on the seekonk border w/ a stop and shop with a returns setup and there's one in Rehoboth I go by often enough. Just didn't know if that was on the up & up but I'll probably start doing that now.

If you paid the deposit, I would say it's your right to go get that back.

If you didn't, well that's a little more grey, but I would say the amount of people who don't claim their deposits, evens it out a little.

Who's got the most bitchn' lawn set up here? I'm going to a rain collection system with a pump for my lawn so I don't tap the well.

I'll throw a sand and charcoal filter in there just to keep the acid from the shingles down.

Wow. Pro gamer move right there.

My lawn setup is the best. I don't really have one. Because of the sand everywhere around me I really only have to mow the thing 2 or 3 times a year. And I call that perfect!
