What kind of tires do I need? 18k highway/year with minor dirt road driving

    A few OE parts from fancy trucks
    Michelin Defenders. They will not be the cheapest initial purchase, but on a per mile basis, they are the winner.

    And don't only consider the initial cost, consider the total cost and service.

    Costco sales will include 1 cent mount/balance/ per corner, lifetime rotations/balances and an excellent hazard warranty. I do not know if Discount offers the same or not.

    Also need to remember that the more expensive tires almost always have a rebate of sorts, whereas the cheapo's do not.

    I got my Firestone tires $100 off by going in on a "deal day" that they have every 3 months or so.

    If you're driving in a lot of rain or water on the highway these tires create a good-sized rooster tail because the Treads are so deep

    I think the Hankooks handle cornering quite well. The only problem I have with them, is sometimes when I'm taking off from a standstill, they'll spin for a moment on wet roads if I take off to fast. Bridgestone used to have a Desert Dueler tire that I really liked. But like most of these poster infer, is don't by cheap tires, they won't last, and don't handle very well.

    Hey fellas I need an update from you - I went to costco today and they told me they would match the current size tire if I sign a waiver. What size are the tires I have, and how much bigger can I go without lifting the truck?

    Unless your on a seriously restricted budget, I'd stay away from Walmart tires. There usually knock offs, that are only made and sold at WalMart. They'd do in a pinch, but I'd try and buy a better brand tire.
