Thats the problem with these twitter stories, they leave out important details.

 

And people still act surprised that folks EVERYWHERE are protesting police violence. I didn't see anything warranting need of lethal force in that.

The militarization of law enforcement needs to end. That could have been handled so much better with a conversation.

I cant see the video, but the story is that he was aiming a gun (found to be bb gun) at traffic, so police show up in force. They tell him to get down on his stomach with his arms out. He refuses and gets on the bench instead. Then procedes to reach for his waist. Cops percieve a threat as they have already been told he was aiming a gun at people and stop the threat.
If he had been out there randomly shooting people, everyone would be saying the cops responded too slowly.

 

Agreed, not knowing the back story is a huge problem. Just watching it would obviously make you jump to conclusions. Helps to have some facts to go with a video like that.

 

You can see him grab his waist right at the end. Pistol looked real enough

Looks to me like the guy was passed out on the sidewalk. They could have walked right up to him or came up from behind him and taken him in easily.

Every one of my sons' airsoft guns look identical to the real thing. Take the orange tip off and no one is telling the difference from more than 10' away.

 

We used to take the orange tip off air guns in the 80’s, you could pack them with dirt, it was like a dirt shotgun.

*not airsoft guns, they were never meant to shoot anything, but they looked real from a distance. They only made an air blast, but when plugged with dirt actually worked.

 

Im pretty sure illegal to take off the orange piece and also highly stupid to pass it off as a real gun. Not to mention highly stupid to pull it when armed cops have real guns pointed at you

 

Unless your goal is to get them to kill you. Suicide by cop is a very real thing.
