FYi, there is something like you are describing. A fellow TW member designed this PCB to have a 4 camera input utilizing the ABC harness and camera switch.

 

Where would one acquire this? Asking for me.

 

I will put you in touch with Scott. You can see if he can have more manufactured. This is my project which I have added a 4 solenoid relay, 3 relays are for the cameras and 1 to power the 4 camera PCB.

Any reason this wouldn't work? Either using ABC relay or a micro relay, with two SPST switches. The left switch for the rear camera, right switch for the front. Fused Ignition controlled 12v+ to whatever load the camera needs.

 

Replace the 2 diodes with switches for one SPDT switch.

 

I can’t really find a SPDT I like, so that’s why I was going to go with the 2 SPST. Should work that way, right? If both switches were to get powered, it would default to the front camera.

 

Separate power to the added camera, so it does not stay on after ign?

 

I have it powered after the switch. So the switch turns the camera on, as well as powering up the coil in the relay which will switch from 87 to 87a. So it switches the video as it powers up the camera

EDIT: OF course, I think I overlooked the rear camera power. Is it always on?

 

OEM camera get juice when HU gets input for viewing. (Reverse input)

 

So the HU receives an input from the reverse trigger and outputs voltage to the rear camera? So, if I wired it the way I have diagramed, the rear camera would be powered when ever the front camera is on? That’s fine with me, just making sure I understand. I was looking at the schematic you posted a few pages back, but they don’t really indicate what causes the camera to power, just which wires deliver that power.

Question. Anyone with a 2020 TRD Sport off road with the RFT aftermarket pro grille have any clue where to mount the camera? Should I just drill above the radar mount and try there or do I need a 3rd party camera mount?

Your truck is a 2020? Don't you have the TSS sesors to contend with in the grille also?
