Any woodworkers?

I spray painted a spot on this panel scrap for a test. Let it set out in the sun to dry. This is what I came back to...

 

Left it in the sun to dry the spray paint.

 

Yeah. I don't feel like buying milk paint so I wanted to pray it with regular spray can and see if I can mimic the paint with some alterations. That was a left over piece from a previous project that happens to be the same wood as the current project (fixing "primative art" that a carpenter bee had a field with).

I'm going to put it back out there upside down to see if I can get it to bend back.

 

When I made this a couple years ago for a wedding, I was given the wood. It was some pretty gnarly rough cut pine that was stored in the back of a garage. I wanted it to have a natural petina so I laid it out flat in the yard and sprayed it with a hose (if it didn't rain). It was out there all summer. I even mowed around them. Everyday time I sprayed it, it would cup. So I would flip it over and spray it again (if it didn't rain). That went on until the end of summer when the bar was finally built. You can still tell where they were laid out in the yard.






I made this with one of the left over pieces for the bride's dad at her request. It holds turkey beards.

 

It was wood he had cut. I think it came from a hemlock. The granite top was 2" thick. It came from Penn State.

 

Oh that's gross.
