You have to hook up the gps for wireless CarPlay and setting the time. I initially didn’t connect it and found out the hard way.

Dang!! There’s got to be a way to trick this thing. Lol. I hope one of us figures it out! I was wondering about the HOA antenna also. I tried to set the time. I eventually had to mess with the time zone +and - to get it right. All my other pioneers you just clicked on the time and set it. I don’t know why some of this needs to be such a big deal. Besides the screen I kind of feel duped on the price. I got it for the screen size and everything to work. I tried one of the android units and it’s cool as hell but I have too much anxiety to mess with it to keep things working. I like me equipment to just work and work every time!

This isn’t a gen specific thread. Just 3rd gen guys have been posting.

Go to Crutchfield and see what it tells you about the HU fitting your truck. If it says no I guess you’d have to do some modifications to get it to fit. I’m not sure of the dimensions of the 2nd gen HU.

When I was on Crutchfield earlier today, it showed 'Doesn't fit' for a 2015 or an 2018. The guy on chat said its a custom install.

Didn’t show it fitting a 2018? I have a 17 and it showed it fitting. There’s no difference in the 2.

Yea, I just did a quick search and it didn’t show it fitting on a 15. I’m not sure what type of custom install you’d need to do. You might try measuring the dimensions of your OE HU and on of us could provide the 6600 dimensions.

I tried the Joying unit, and it was a shitshow from the start. I have a JBL Entune in my taco, and there were several problems just getting it to work. It would sometimes connect wirelessly, and it sometimes wouldn’t. That, plus the fat that if you wear polarized glasses, you wouldn’t be able to see the screen at all blew my mind. I know the Pioneer isn’t an inexpensive unit, but I’m hoping it’s worth it!

You are basically paying for the screen Size and wireless car and android play. It does have a browser but pioneer controls what sites are allowed. So it will play YouTube, but no video while driving, and unable to fast forward to next song using steering wheel controls. One of the options of the android when it worked. Lol

Are you talking about the Pioneer HU we’re discussing? If so, I can do this.

I’m specifically talking about doing it when watching a YouTube video. So if you put on a compilation of videos from either a group or the same artist, and want to skip to the next one, it would not do that for me using the steering wheel up button. In all other modes Bluetooth, CarPlay, radio, etc, it will go forward or back

I just went to the Maestro RR website. I did the demo where you can change what the buttons do. It had options for the buttons on the right side of the steering wheel which confused me. Why would someone change those buttons, they control info on the instrument cluster. Am I missing something?

I can't find via google a good explanation for what the difference is w/ the dmh-wt7600nex vs the 6600nex - I see some folks have purchsed the 7600 - any wisdom there?

The 7600 is a (true floating display). It is primarily for installing in a Single din opening and having the monitor/screen sitting outside of the bezel. I purchased it before I had read from this group. Was more difficult to line up the brackets for a flush mount. So if you want yours sitting outside of the bezel then7600. For flush mount with the bezel then 6600. I wish I would of purchased the 6600. Way easier and could line up using the pictures in this section. U can make the 7600 flush but. The 6600 is definitely the better option

PreRunnerSeth, so the 5500 overall display is definitely smaller than the 6600? I ask because they make a 2nd Gen bezel for the 5500, but I assume I'd still have to mill it out to fit the 6600.

Yes the 6600 is physically bigger than the 5500 and will not fit the bezels made for the 5500.

The 6600 is quite a bit wider than the 5500. I don't think it will fit the 2nd gen at all. Your best bet is to go with the 7600.

I was afraid of that. I can't find the 5500 display dimensions anywhere... Can the 7600 be mounted very close to the bezel? Or even touching the bezel? Or does it have to stick out (float) away from the bezel a few inches?

Can anyone else comment on the call clarity when using Carplay? Not the mic, but hearing the caller.
