With the Chevy Silverado. The new ones really look good and I have been thinking about moving up to something a little more larger I am also waiting on the new tundra which I understand may be a hybrid

They look ok in certain colors and seem to be made for the brodozer crowd. You might be waiting awhile for the new tundra though.

the newest ones no. I had a 2015 and my bil a 2015. I had tons of problems with mine, he had less so but still some issues. Mainly with his brake lines not working.
My power steering kept turning off randomly wihile driving, and my water pump got replaced under warranty. i traded it in and according to the vin it got totaled and burned in an electrical fire.

    cheers!

The savagegeese review as pretty meh about it. Apparently its pretty decent, but they had serious misgivings about the cylinder deactivation technology and its reliability over the long haul.

A few additions to make me feel cool.
I have had several Silverado's. I have always had good service from them. I would take one over a dodge or F150 for sure. If you get one I would stick with the 5.3. I would not trust Chevrolet with turbos and the 4.3 is weak.

For $300 you can get a tuner and turn off the AFM where it drops cylinders. You will get lots of bashing of anything other than Toyota on here but the Silverado is a solid truck.

the v4 v8 thing in my 2015 was always so weird. I had a flowmaster on it and sounded so off when it would go economy.

I had been a GM Guy for many years when it came to trucks. My last Silverado was a 2011, it was a trouble free truck. I gave it to one of my kids in 2015, and she is still driving it today with no major problems at all. I purchased a 2015 GMC Canyon, which continually had problems with power steering, AC, electronics, transmission, as well as increasing rattles and squeaks as it approached the 100,000 mile drivetrain warranty expiration. At 42,000 miles I had to pay out of pocket for the power steering issue for a rack and pinion replacement because the dealer stated it was not covered under warranty. I started looking on line and soon realized that the problem was a common one, along with the AC, and transmission issues. After the steering issue, my wife refused to drive it, and called it the death truck. When COVID hit the local dealers here were initially in panic mode and I was able to get a smoking deal on a Taco OR, and jumped on it. All vehicles have their issues, but we now have 3 Toyota vehicles in the stable, from 5 yrs old to a few months, and none of them have had any major issues. I would be hesitant to recommend GM products if you plan on keeping them past their warranty, otherwise, the Silverado is a nice looking truck.

First person I heard say the new Silverado looks really good. I think it’s ugly as crap. The Sierra looks good, but it’s still GM garbage.

Personally I’ve been giving the new Titan P4X a hard stare. But I also want to see the new F150. Even though I’m kinda over Toyota I do also want to see what the new tundra will look like too. So I’m probably going to hold off 1 more year before I dump my taco

Can't comment on new trucks but I've had a few gmt-800 Chevy's. Great trucks, the 5.3 is a fantastic motor.

I realize this is a toyota forum but if I was looking for another half ton, toyota wouldn't even be a consideration. Ive owned a current generation tundra, its way past update time. The f150 seems like the winner to me. E locker which is vital to us, great gas mileage, a shit ton of power, nice interior, and the 5.0 is plenty reliable.

Silverados are rustbuckets. I have friends that own 2014-2015 amd they already have rust around the wheelwells, fenders and tailgate in the same pattern. They seem to run ok though.

Silverado would top my list for domestic offerings.

That said, a Tundra would be the better truck.

had a '16 LTZ....was a nice truck, drove beautifully....but....after 2 weeks, the passenger AC stopped....took them a week to tear apart the entire dash to free up a stuck vent...whole dash came out, and the service manager called it a science project. About 2 months into owning it, the check eng light came on...and another week in the shop rebuilding the valve gear on one side....was i un-lucky? now i own a taco
