Yeah im dead stock on my pro suspension

 

Any of you guys running 285 do speedo recalibration?

 

I do it in my head. If I’m already speeding, it doesn’t matter.

 

No sir I didn't, just use the speedo on my Garmin gps.

 

New member here. After reading almost all 88 pages of this thread I was inspired to dip my toes into 285’s. Got a used set of 285/75/16 Cooper AT3’s and had them mounted on my TRD bead lock wheels. I bought used first because I was really worried about rubbing and ruining a new set. However, with +10 offset, they clear the cab mount, even at full lock, but I had to push the front fender splash guards forward. Please Excuse the kids toys in the background and the very dirty truck.

 

I’ll be changing the hideous grille out tomorrow

 

I’m actually a fan of the 2020 grills, as many others here are. You’d be able to sell the grill fairly easily once off, so win-win for you and someone who buys your grill.

 

Hey guys, new to forum and to Tacoma world in general. Just bought a 2020 Tacoma Sport TRD and looking forward to get some 285/75/16 KO2s. How much work would be needed to avoid some rubbing?

Welcome! I just joined the forum too. I’d recommend reading through a good portion of this thread for ideas. I’ll give you the short version, IMO. Lift your truck first. Most people on here have at least 2” of lift to fit bigger tires. I have no idea how the stock suspension guys who claim no rubbing do it. From there it’s all in the wheel offset. Folks with -10 to +10 offset seem to have very little rubbing that is fixed with a box cutter or drill. Less offset seems to yield major cutting and welding of the cab mount member. More offset rubs on steering components and tires won’t fit without spacers.

Regretting not going with 285’s myself now lol. Bout to swap mine to my wife’s 4Runner and go get some. Hopefully it won’t slow the truck down too much.

 

I have pretty noticeable power loss... probably bc I went full MT tire so they're a bit beefier than an AT tire.

 

BF Goodrich KO2 AT 285/75/16.... no lift, no modification. They fit with no on the road rubbing, but does rub a little once the suspension starts to flex off road!

 

I usually go with E rate general grabbers which are fairly beefy for at’s. I wonder if I’d be better off sticking with what I’ve got especially knowing that if suspension starts flexing there may not be too much room. I have 1.5” upfront but that’s it Currently.

Yes retrofitted and blacked out everything. Added halos with switch backs, demon eyes and trd side marker. Also changed the projectors to rx350 with hid. Custom led switch back trim plates one side trd other side 4x4 off road

 

Sooo happy to hear and see this. After a lot of thinking and researching, I will go all in the 285/75/16 KO2s. I already emailed Toyota to include that when they deliver my truck. I will lift my TRD Sport anyways in a few months at most.

I was afraid of going this size, but prefer to go big on tires already then regretting going 265 and then having to work in selling them to get the 285's.

 

I’d be careful as yours is a sport and his is a pro. They have different wheel offset and the pro is an inch higher in the front.

 

yes, you are right. I talked to my shop and they mentioned 275/75/16 would work without rubbing, but if I really want the 285's, they would need to work ina 2.5'" lift in the truck.
