I Bought a 2020 Toyota Tacoma DCLB. I previously had a 2002 Toyota tacoma extended cab 4x4 SR5 with a 5 speed manual. Anyone converted and wished they could go back? Also was thinking of adding a tool box, any recommendations?

I miss rolling my own, driving an automatic is kinda boring. I haven't tried the crawl control yet, are they supposed to be faulty?

Some have been known to not be able to crawl up a driveway let alone any real obstacle in your way. Give it a test on a small hill. Pavement or dirt doesn't matter. If it works, be prepared to awful awful noises. If it doesn't it will stop and disengage itself.

Wow, didn't know that, I'm sort of old school in when it comes to things like that. Is this a problem that toyota fixes under warranty?

    this and that...
kinda had a feeling that it was because you went from manual to auto. i would feel the same way, thats why i always gotta have atleast one vehicle in my stable thats standard. in this case its the taco. ive owned three so far and went out of my way to make sure all of em was manual. just makes driving these trucks way more enjoyable. especially when you throw a short shifter on it.

Welcome to TW! I sold my 2004 and moved to a 2020. I do miss my old truck but really love the new one, too.

I agree, the only reason I shifted from manual to automatic was because I want the DCLB. I didn't realize that driving an automatic was so lack luster. After what I spent on the truck, it'll take me awhile to recover xD

Yeah, I miss my old truck, put many miles on it and had so many stories. Not sure how I feel about the new tacoma, although it's super nice, my old tacoma was all I needed

I had the same problem, wanted a dclb but wanted the manual more. So i got a manual but i also could not give up the first gen, so i kept it and still use it as my DD. If the new truck is 3/4 the truck the first gen was i will be happy. When i finally have to put it down it will be a bad day/week/year for my family and friends, because they will be around my sad self

There's a manual crawl control over-ride. You just have to use a little of your right foot, a little of your left foot, and a little of that thing in-between your ears.

Yeah I know xD, but if I paid for crawl control, it'll be wise to make sure it works!

The secret to not having regrets is to keep your older one. You can't have too many Tacomas.

The main thing was, my old tacoma was having problem after problem, that thing was heavily abused as it was used as a Grove truck. When it was all said and done, that thing had 500k miles when I decided to sell it and someone offered a deal I couldn't refuse. Plus, paying insurance on two vehicles and being under 25 would literally kill me!
