What is the proper torque spec for the radiator body mounts?

Another question. By lifting up the front of the truck would that cause the top corners of the fender panels to contact the cab and door? Did this cross anyone’s mind to check?

I did not notice or see any body panel movement or paint damage as a result. For those body panels to touch, that would take way more body / frame movement than is needed to remove and replace those bushings.

I have installed Energy Suspension 9.4101G UNIVERSAL MOUNT and I am at the point of regretting installing it. It is VERY noisy. Have opened the front 4 times by now, put grease, oil, powder, nothing and the bushings are creaking and squeaking like crazy. The noise travels through the truck and also vibrates in the steering wheel and pedals. Looking for a different alternative now, will not go back to OEM but I have to get rid of the ES soon. If you close by me, stop and check it out.

I'm chasing a "clunk". Could you feel the "clunk" while driving (while turning/start/stopping)? Not through the steering wheel or shake, but through your seat? I was thinking it is my Dakars and still leaning that way, but looking into this now. Having a hell of a time even pin pointing where the noise is originating.

You can get the Energy set for $30 and do it yourself in an hour. Easy fix since front OEM ones don't last long. Mine looked really used at only 7000 miles.

I put those radiator body mounts on today, the $30 energy set. Boy were mine f’d! The passenger side was all rusty (live in southern AZ) and the driver’s side was completely separated (metal from rubber). I had (thinking positive here) the clunk up front somewhere. We’ll see tomorrow if this worked.

Thanks to the OP for the great write-up!

Did this fix your clunk? I have had an intermittent clunk on the RF of my truck after I installed Kings. Figured it was the Kings topping out (even though I have no added pre-load), but now I am wondering if it is the body mount.

It is probably one of the cheapest ways to find out if that’s where your clunk is coming from. The fact that these are failing on factory trucks from the get go is unbelievable.

Same issue, I need new rubber mounts. Using a reamer i got the metal bits to align until I can get the new mounts.

Nope. So, I loosened and re-torqued the bottom strut bolt, LCA w/full weight on them, SPC UCA long bolts/nuts & the ball joint top nuts (thank goodness I had the sense to mark these) added new sway bar links (HD). I tested the movement of the SPC ball joints while I had the top nut off...both felt solid/smooth, no play at all. It’s still making the same noise.

    I’m totally at a loss...

I’m thinking I’ll remove the skids first and see if that resolves the noise.

Next I’ll remove the sway bar all together (since I’ll have the skid off).

With all the flexing occurring when turning/steering at low speeds with the suspension and frame/body, there are a LOT of possibilities. The sound really suggests it’s bushing binding-based.

I’m totally open to suggestions if anyone wants to throw some ideas out there.

    Thanks all.

I have cracks forming on the Radiator core support that attaches to the upper portion of this mount. That creaks like a bitch.

Took mine in for the 5,000 mile service and the squeaky noise. They Initially thought it was my aftermarket exhaust. Ended up taking it back after the service as the problem was not resolved. They used Some form of chassis ears and diagnosed it as the passenger front body bushing. Once it was replaced squeaking went away. Has returned now after 3,000 miles ☹️
