honestly, would i be able to go to my local and tell them the grill is missing and theyll replace? It does have the CPO power-train warranty in addition to the regular warranty.

    thanks

It’s worth a shot, if it’s still under 3yr/36 basic warranty I don’t see why not. If it isn’t physically damaged I’d claim you noticed it after driving it and let them take it from there. Worst they can say is no

I have to admit it took me a while to figure out how this happened as your original post was hard to follow ... but I understand. You thought a nice, shiny and perfect truck was being delivered and then it showed up missing a letter on the grill ... I can imagine that is frustrating. My biggest concern would be this -- is it just the letter or is something else wrong that you don't know about?

You are in a bit of a no leverage spot because the dealer is far away and they know it is unlikely you will ever set foot in their showroom. So here is what I would do:

    1) Contact the dealer and raise hell with the salesman. Let him know they should send you a new grill given the initial pics didn't show this problem and you will speak to management and Toyota about it and let them resolve it. The reality is they won't care and one bad internet review they can manage. Give them a chance to make it right and see what you can get out of it. Maybe they will send you the letter ... or a new grill ... at this point anything you get out of them would be gravy.

    2) Contact the shipper. You may have insurance and seek to file a claim with them. It may have been damaged during shipping and you may have some coverage.

    3) Go to the best local dealer you have and ask them for help. Eat a little crow. Tell them you bought from a far away dealer and they damaged the grill but that you are looking to build a service relationship with them and can they help you get the part replaced under warranty. See what they say. Depending on the service place they might be willing to help you ... and if it is under CPO it may be covered. Also tell them you don't trust what you bought and will they do a CPO check under warranty. That may give you peace of mind.

    4) Research the replacement part and find out how much it will cost you to replace that part of the grill. I am not an expert but it has to be less than a few hundred bucks. You may have to just bite the bullet and chalk it up to lesson learned.

    5) Call Toyota and see what they will do ... and if they can help you ... maybe file a claim under the CPO and see where that gets you.

Proceed on all fronts. My only real concern would be what else is wrong that I don't know about.

In all cases, realize you don't have much leverage -- so be nice and see what you can get them to do on your behalf ...

Please post back on the resolution. I think I speak for a few folks in saying it will be interesting to see how this all works out. Best of luck to you !

I’m thinking the dealership is going to blame the shipper, and they are going to say you signed off on it after you looked it over. I’ve heard nothing good about buying or selling a used vehicle sight unseen.

Hey man, i appreciate it. I didnt raise hell but i did/am bugging the salesman about it. I called Toyota HQ CS (obtained # from toyota.com) and my issue got sent to the Toyota dealerships service relations thus leading the sales manager emailing be with "a pic that was taken the day of shipping" with the previous owners license plate attached.

I didn't contact the shipper yet as im trying to keep as little parties involved but I may have to contact him soon. They did tell me there insured.

I will visit my local dealership and voice my concern to them as when i get some time off. Definitely still covered under basic warranty and CPO warranty. No damages whatsoever anywhere on the front grill (or anywhere else at that)

Will keep everyone posted once this is resolved (if anyone is still interested)

Cant believe people think that i purchased a fake PRO or even had an aftermarket grill attached. They should inspect the back of their pro grill as well and then they'll see the clips on the back of the letters. Oh well.

    Thanks again

The dealership is blaming the shipper just to get it out of their hands i presume. I normally save photos of the vehicle but didn't this time due to being busy. Failure on my part but didn't think that would come back and get me. If there was a way to retrieve those photos that were taken down.

Seriously, you guys are underestimating the TW trolls. @stun gun @JaCado @Lt. Dangle @In&out

just tell us the dealership. The phone calls will be relentless. “Vanna, I’m looking for a T, do you have one.”

it would get silly quick. I would also enlist the help of a Nissan forum that I used to be an Admin at, years ago.

Do it bro. Tell us the name and give us a number. Pleaaaaaaase. It would be sooooooo much fun!!!

Bro, before. Don’t let them pressure you and take the dominant position in the fight. Make them come to you. Own the ring. Get us involved and they will wish they had given up the ten buck chuck. Better than a bunch of bored, Covid locked down internet trolls with nothing better to to than mask out numbers and call relentlessly.

Fuck these guys. PM me the flicking name. I’ll be cool and only share with the good trolls. :)
