whats a good highway tire?

so im almost done with my bridestones duelers that came on my sport. i drive a lotta highway and city. any opinions on tires to consider and tires to stay away from?

 

i'm interested in this one since i do the same

 

Michelin LTX MS2's. Love these tires!

 

x2, 100k mile tire right there if you take care of them.

 

look into Nitto tires. They just came out with a Hwy tread a year ago and warranty them for 50,000.

 

X2 on the Michelin LTX MS2's, best tire out there for the superslab...

 

x10 on the MS2. We just bought a 2007 Tahoe with the factory 20" wheels on it and it has a new set of MS2s on it. Very nice tire. Quiet and ride very well. I've had the older LTX/MS on several vehicles and it was great too. I have the AT2 on my Taco and they are good too, but a little more noise and less expected tread life than the MS2.

agree, they are pricey. Get them when the have the rebate going on for a little break.

When I bought my Tacoma and my tires (dunflops) were still new less then 1000 miles on them, I took it into Discount tire and they gave me $50.00 each for the flops which knocked 200.00 off the total price. I was happy..to do the deal.

 

I love michelins on my cars, but they are a it more ecpensive... you get what you pay for

Michelin LTX MS2s or LTX AT2s or Michelin Pilots (Pilots are pricey & soft compound, but really handle).

My wife's 06 Accord came with the Pilots ...and yes we already replaced them at 30K miles. Low profile and soft for sure...and handle well.

The Goodyear Eagles on the new Vette are worse. Soft and stick like glue...but need replaced at 10K miles...If you drive the car.

 

REALLY soft ride tread so it should be smooth on the highway right?

Michelins are the way to go.

 

Michelin LTX will last you a life time. Tough tire, decent traction on gravel and snow too for a highway tire. I think they look boring and ugly IMO, but they are a great tire for what you need.

 

My rule of thumb is any tire that sucks in the mud and snow will be a good highway tire. Any tire that is great on the highways, will suck in mud and snow.

Sounds weird but I put on a set of Michelin Cross Terrain SUV's for my 2003 DC Prerunner. I do 100% on road and commute about 50/50 highway/city. I've had these on for about 45k miles already and no joke they are probably only about half worn. Although I do keep my pressures monitored very closely and rotate religiously at 5,000. Dead quiet, great traction. When these things finally go I'm going the same ones agian.

I'm not too sure about the load rating, but I don't haul stuff that much in my truck so I'm not worried about it.
