So is there a document on how to install this gear? I have the germes lab equipment, camera and everything I need but I wanted a document that details everything out. Not a video, something I can do step by step. Want to get this done tonight.

I thought it was plug and play? Routing camera through The firewall I believe is the hardest part.

 

Yeah I watched the videos but I sure would love a step by step document. (I'm in IT, Im just that way). I'll get it installed tonight just afraid I am going to miss a step somewhere.

 

Awesome. None of the Germes lab pins fit.....so now I have a front camera with nothing to connect it to.

The Germes plugs are fine, just the 24 and 20 pin do not fit anywhere.

FWIW, this is for a 2020 TRD Sport 4x4. So unless I can find an adapter, I will sell this kit to someone else and wait for the 2020 version of this to come out.




This is the 2016-2019 MFD. Not the same.

 

@jarbarian I bought "the Kit " in December for my 2019 TRD SPORT w/Man. trans. It appears to be a "generic", that is ,to fit various vehicles. I got it in, but in my case it doesn't work. Its getting to hot outside to work on it for me , so I am going to have to work on it in the fall. I am encouraged by the prospect of a 6 1/2ft cable , there are videos showing power added at the head unit and some at the camera end. am confused myself
I think there are a lot of guys interested in a step by step instruction. One size does not fit all !! Your 2020 uses a different "Kit " than 2016 threw 2019.

Yeah I found that out after the fact. So if someone wants to buy my kit (unpackaged but unused) let me know. I emailed Germes to see if they have made one for the 2020 Tacoma.

How do you get the software update?

 

@jarbarian any software updates I had to have done were done at the dealer, for shifting Issues with the auto trans in my 2016. I got so tired of messing with it, I sent the truck to my farm in Oklahoma for my ranch manager to use, ( its a 2WD) and bought a new TRD Sport 4X4 with a 6sp. man. Except for this front camera issue. I am a much happier owner

@FreshMexicanTaco please sing me up for the kit for the 2020 Version. The one I bought online does not work for 2020 models just 2016-2019. I've got to swap my grill out and wait for yours. Gotta sell the kit I bought.

 

I emailed FMT. Just waiting for his feedback. Maybe he'll have the updates before they ship. Not sure how to update mine if they don't have it.

 

Looks to me like "update "will be a different wiring harness interface at the very least we will see !!
curious if FMT actually replies

 

Ditto on this. I put it back in the box, I can ship it to anyone for $100.00. Never used but was opened.

a few posts back he says he got the new units But they are not working 100% he is waiting for a response from the manufacturer to hopefully flash some updated software to make them work....
