A year ago I moved from Dallas to San Diego. Go ahead and look at housing prices in 76018 vs 92154

We sold our house last July in preparation to buy another place. We're renting a small apartment that started out as a 4 month short term lease and here we are still a year later.

I hear you though definitely don't want to be house poor. I just want a nice garage setup with room to work on my vehicles and plenty of space for motorcycles.

I wish we saw those prices here.
1500 square foot condo = 3673 $$ a month for what we have.

average house price here is 900k-1.3Million.
And they aren’t that nice of houses.

My fiancée and I are getting the fuck outta Orange County. We have 54 days left on our place. Then we moving into my parents spare house. Rent free. Adding more to our savings and then making a game plan.

I am just trying to figure out how people afford to live. Only thing I can come up with is everybody is drowning in debt.
Maybe I should change my financial decisions and live the American way.

It’s insanely expensive to live in certain parts of the country.

I own a 4BR brick with a detached 4-car garage, and I paid $62,000 for it. Nice neighborhood, too.

I guess I shouldn’t complain about living in PA.

I keep wanting to move but I love the beach too much. Although, couple more years here and I may be moving to Arizona. Getting really over California bullshit

Yeah the prices vary here but you need at least $500k to get a decent single family home with a garage in this zip code, and you're still barely getting any property for that.

You get more for your money the further away from the city you go, but my office is in Philly and I assume I'll have to go back in at some point so I want to be near the train and not have too far a commute.

I will say it's been awesome being completely debt free! But that will change soon lol

I qualified for low income housing. I bought my townhouse for $125k, where my neighbors paid over 600k. I have some stipulations on when i can sell, but my mortgage is low, and i charge my roommate more than what i pay for mortgage. Thats why i have nice toys (and i dont want my gf to move in yet) and i am not kicked out if I make over the initial salary limitations. Hard to give up $1k/month of tax free play money. Im trying to pay my house off in 6 years, then 2 years of saving without mortgage, and then sell and move west.

New Jersey is expensive af also for housing. After my divorce I moved back in with my parents rent free. Thank god. But rent is typically 1500 plus a month for a 1 br apartment.

Yikes. I bought my (i think) 1700sqft condo, 1 br, 1.5b, loft, 1 car garage with large living spaces for 195K, my mortgage is under $1100/mo. Average home around here is 300K and it's probably gone up 25% in the last 5 years. Hooray living in the country.

My townhouse was around $500k. 2br 1.5 bath and the tiny ass detached garage. Luckily my pops helped buy the house but I don’t think I can stay here for too much longer. I feel like I got a couple years left before I move. Just sucks cuz I just got a new job in January that I really like and my girlfriend just started a new job a few weeks back that she loves so it’d be hard to move anytime soon
