    Howdy Hive Mind,

Im a recent poster abd would love some wisdom,
    [IMG]

I've been told that I have a valve cover gasket is leaking and I plan on going balls deep and replacing the gasket, the big quesion is should i change all the other gaskets on the engine, ive seen some kits for sale with a whole bunch of them.

heres the link for the valve cover one
    https://www.autopartsway.ca/partdet...sealing-systems/engine-valve-cover-gasket-set

    and for the bigger set
    https://www.amazon.com/ECCPP-4Runner-Graphite-Compatible-Gaskets/dp/B07PLH3H22

my big problem is im canadian and I dont want to pay to import parts from the states. If any fellow cannucks could throw me some links I would be grateful.

    Also

Since im in canada i need to have the truck be emission certified before I can even get it on the road, and luckely I have the a bad 02 sensor, I dont remember the code, but I can it post later.
Loking under the the beauty I'm greeted with this too

the muffler makes less noise then my GFs honda civic, but damn this is rusted to shit, is it worth replacing/repairing?

    but wait, there's more

My rear bumper has a whole rusted through it, the chrome is keeping the rust in. I just want to replace the bumper with anything really.

thats really it for my bitching, but I would love to take some of your precous information

Replacing all those gaskets in that kit is a really big job, especially if you're new to this. I think if your truck is running well, and doesn't have other major leaks, your best bet is just to do the valve cover gasket at this point.

    •Recent valve cover gasket thread:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/am-i-leaking-oil-from-motor.667293/

•02 sensor thread (can be problematic getting off if the nuts are rusted round. OEM are preferred for this part):
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/rear-o2-sensor-done.142451/

•Great after market rear bumper (on my truck). Almost identical to stock and great price:
    https://www.amazon.com/TKY-TY40342C...rds_browse-bin:4709468011&s=automotive&sr=1-8

Also what does your frame look like? That is heavy duty rust on the bumper/muffler.

@Currygoat the frame isnt too bad, or atleast not by my standards as a canadian.

Your frame looks toast dude (or very near death). I would be worrying about that and not the valve cover gaskets and bumper.

Get after it with a 4.5” wire wheel and go from there. If there’s solid metal coat it.

Coat it and then plate it with Safe T caps! These frames rot from the inside out, I'd worry like crazy about that

OP you say that's decent by Canadian standards?!?!
