Great to hear, thanks so much for the advice. The 6112's seem like a real contender.

Meh it’s a lot more money for fancy shocks, a muffler, and a skid plate.

I really liked that they were OEM, and designed for the vehicle. The set up was excellent and I would do it again, for sure.

Careful. The axle joints are designed for a certain dynamic range and it's clear that some people are experiencing failures because they are lifting their trucks quite a lot (3"). It will not go your way when your truck is towed to the dealership and they see this type of suspension mod.

Me, I'm looking at 6112s but they will be set to stock height (0") or maybe 1".

At full 5/6 perch (little over 2") on the 6112s, I was really surprised at how decent the angles are on the front. I have no worry about blowing a CV from that alone. They are also easy to change if you have tools. I will grab a spare for off road, but I'm not overly worried.

Yeah I have no intentions of going close to 3" of lift. I believe 1" - 1.5" will maintain decent angles and avoid excess wear.

Does going up 1- 2" have any other added "unseen" issues? Any ""oh-crap" I should have considered that".
Do the brake lines have enough length or do they need to be longer? What about the needle bearing in the front diff. ?

Brake lines are good , angles good. Diff drop is up to you. Some do some don’t. I did no issues at all. That’s with an AAL. Stock ubolts :)

Yes, I really like that its an OEM setup. I realize alot of people don't care about that but its a selling point to me.

I think it would be wise to replace the needle bearing. Looks like it is a design flaw and I probably should have considered.

I paid 33.9k for my trd or with 7k miles on it.

    blistein 5100s $1500
    clazzio seat covers $600
    fake toyota grill $150
    raptor lights $70
    backflip cover $1000

    = total spent 37220.

    way cheaper than a pro.

Yeah but headlights, taillights, foglights, hood scoop, emblems, nicer suspension than 5100's, interior details. Not saying a pro is worth it for everyone (or me personally) but it sure can be for some people.

If I just want to go an inch in the front of my 2017 Limited 4x4, is there anything wrong with doing 1" spacers vs the Bilstein 5100 setup? It would be for cosmetic reasons (I would go up one size to 31.5 inch tires as well) and the occasional dirt/gravel fire road. No real off roading.

You would want to do a 1/2” spacer would give you 1” of lift. You won’t have as much rake with just lifting front. Just FYI. You will be fine

Except it’ll cost just as much in time and effort to put a spacer in as it will to just replace the shocks. The 5100’s are a major upgrade over stock.

edit - If you use the no-compressor method it only takes loosening 2 bolts, removing 3 bolts, and about 2 hours to swap both sideS on the front, including getting the truck in the air and getting the wheels off and on. You’ll need an alignment if you either do spacers or a full strut replacement.

5100’s are a great step up IMO.

With either set-up I'd be doing the install myself (and then having a shop to the alignment). Its more about pros/cons of the of each method. Yes, the spacers are cheaper, but after some more reading it sounds like the both options will make the ride a big more harsh. With the bilsteins I'm getting better shocks than stock with a bit more travel and additional height adjustability later on if I choose. With a spacer I'm getting a single solution that I can either like or not.

It is sounding like the extra few hundred bucks for the bilsteins is the better way to go.
