What if Toyota felt the Tacoma didn’t need the additional external cooler and removed it like they did for the Tundra? Cost savings!!!

Your radiator probably still has the ATF cooler portion built-in, but capped off at the fluid fittings. Common practice with most production vehicles with AT/MT variants.

OP I’m not sure where you are from but here in the liberal northeast an attorney general complaint is also a very good attention getter. I’ve had to go that route also. I’ve always found Toyota to be very accommodating. They just have too many customers and use the dealers as a buffer and unfortunately are not always handled in the best way.

An AG complaint could be embarrassing if it turns out he just has an updated radiator and all is well...I think more info is needed before dropping nukes...

Tundra guys discovered the missing aux/external trans cooler for the 2019 MY. There was a vague explanation from Toyota that it really wasn't necessary due to something or other.

Looks like the Taco is catching up with the Tundra, seems to be the same situation - still has the little canister using radiator coolant as a heat exchanger, but not an external aux cooler mounted in front of the main radiator.

It's very possible. I drive one vehicle that has a transmission temp gauge... a dump truck with a GVWR of 68,000 lbs and a 6 speed Allison. Unless I'm loaded (19 tons) and I'm stopping at a stop sign every few minutes, the needle doesn't ever move.

I bet this is it. Probably using up the stock they have and making a running change to not have it anymore. Save them a few bucks.

Would be interesting to see trans temp comparisons between with and without it when towing.

If that is the case, any Tacoma built at/after the time of the OP's vehicle would have no external cooler. I have not seen anyone else report this in this thread (and I was  enough to read all 17 pages).

lol if this was a rolling change Toyota probably didn’t think consumers would notice this fast. Weaponized truck enthusiasts at work lol.

It could depend on factory as they might be using up exiting stock? Baja runs out first, then SA, then S Mexico or vice versas.

I will be at my dealer in AZ on Friday. They are one of the largest dealers in the nation and have a huge garage housing vehicles. My service writer is a long time friend. I'll get him to let me see the inventory and take a look for myself.

That should be interesting. From the looks of it (sorry, I'm MT), you don't need to pop the hood. Just peek through the left side of the grilles.

Hmmmmm.... I'm really not trying to be a dick, but.....is the '19 Tacoma going to end up being the best year of the Gen3's? Minimal bugs as the 16'-18's took care of that. Fully functioning crawl control on OR's and Pros. And apparently still has an external trans cooler. Glad I didn't wait last year for the 20's, cause I very nearly did (money thing). Just like the thread on the CC malfunctions, I hope you 2020 folks with missing external trans coolers get a straight answer from Toyota.

    Yeah.
I'm sure there is a disclaimer on their website about specs being subject to change. The window sticker clearly does not say it has a transmission cooler. And, I wouldn't worry about it too much.
