After a few hundred miles it seems to me like the floatiness goes away mostly...or you get used to it. I also have lower pressure...like 32ish.

what do you specifically mean by "floatiness?"

Also coming from the AT3Ws did you come from the same size when you moved to the G003s? Would be curious on the impact to your MPGs

my mpgs on my ko2s are already trash so any worse won't really kill me but i'd be curious

I moved from 33s to 35s when I got my G003s, but I also went down to a much lighter wheel. I think the wheel weight help offset the increase in tire weight so I haven't noticed much of an MPG change. Like you, I was already getting trash MPG with my AT3Ws.

The "floatiness" isn't considered an issue. It's the only way I know how to describe the steering response at speed. It's probably more of a difference with a stiffer sidewall and running a psi higher than I probably should. I'm at 35 psi cold - I should probably drop it down to 32 or so.

thanks man thats a great explanation. I'd be moving from 33's to 34's and the increase in tire weight would be around 4lbs per tire from that transition. What impresses me the most from what i can tell with the G003 is really their weight as a MT but also the cost relative to other tires in general (not only MT)

After reading through this thread I pulled the trigger on a set last week. All i've heard is great things about them so far. I went with 315/75/16, moving up from 285/75/16.

Trying to decide between the geolandars and St Maxxs on my 1st gen in size 265/75/16. Most on road driving with some offroading

Tough decision! The S/T Maxx looks like a nice tire as well.

FWIW, i'm moving from S/T MAXX to the G003 next week.

The Coopers are nice, but they are super stiff on road. I find it rather uncomfortable, even with decent suspension. Positives, they wear like iron on road and do well off road in all but thick mud. In thick mud, they do not clear.

Granted, the G003 is an E-rated tire as well, so there might not be much difference. I'm getting these to step up a size and try something new. I'm also hoping to solve the mud clearing issues with ST MAXX by going to a M/T tire. Plus they look sweet....

I’ve had both. Like @rdpoe, I thought the ST Maxx’s rode like granite Flintstones wheels on pavement. After about 15,000 miles the off-road traction really trailed off. But they were tough, in the 4 years I had them I ran over scrap metal and several nails and never had a blowout, only slow leaks.

I've only had the Geolandar G003's for a year but so far I'm impressed. For an M/T, they're surprisingly comfortable and quiet on pavement. I've only had one real off-road test so far and they were great, I had no trouble in snow and mud keeping up with my brother in his UTV. If the Geolandars keep their bite a little longer than the Coopers, they'll be my new favorite tires.

ADS front coils, icon RXT leaf pack and ADS shocks in the rear. I'm up a couple inches.

Coming from 255/85r16 Cooper S/T MAXX. So 33" to 34.". They are going on some SCS F5s, should be a sexy combo and perform better all around.

I had a love/hate with the Coopers. They did respectively well off road in all but the goopiest mud. They have trouble clearing mud, but they are only an aggressive AT. My biggest issue was how the rode on road. Hard as a rock. Difficult to balance as well.
