Take a few week trip to Nicaragua...I learned more Spanish there in 2 weeks than 4 years of high school combined

course that was 5 years ago now and I've forgotten most of it again

If you really do enjoy it, you'll be able to pick it up pretty darn quick. Especially if you already have/had a good base. And sounds like you do. Do any of those apps or programs work? There is one language learning app that has a radio commercial fairly frequently here. I forget name but I've always wondered how well those types of learning would work.
Babble was the name, that's right. Came to me

I’d rent a trailer out there. No point in bringing an empty trailer from Chicago to you and suffer even worse gas mileage

It definitely is. I was never fluent by any stretch, even during the Nicaragua trip...but you learn real quick how to pick up bits and pieces, enough to convey what you need and converse on a very basic level lol.

Oh and you have to tell them you're Canadian, given the US's history with Nicaragua

I'll have to check that out. I've tried Duolingo and it seems like a lot of toil
