What’s up everyone, I have a 2019 cement grey TRD sport RWD, I went to big bear this weekend and ended up doing some trials for the first time, I absolutely loved it, it’s my first truck, I’ve always been a 1/4 high horsepower kind of guy, so this is all new to me, I want to upgrade my suspension, nothing crazy but enough to feel confident next time I go off roading, any suggestions will be much appreciated.

Depends on your budget. Bilstein 5100 kit is a common budget friendly upgrade

    Less capable than 4x4? Sure.
But, then again, people with 4x4 have issues because they think the truck can do anything.
Learn what the truck can do and learn to pay attention to the trail. Get a compressor for the times you need to air down and some traction boards if you expect to be on sand.

And, welcome to TW. Where you are a poser if you don't have 4x4 and need a 3/4 ton to tow more than a skateboard.

Do you have recovery gear (shovel, traction boards, air compressor, snow chains) and AT tires already? Side note: what’s a “1/4 high horsepower” mean?

Oops I left out the mile part, 1/4 mile, I had a 800hp SS Camaro I use to drag race, right before I switched to my Tacoma, I thought I missed it until I went off roading, it was super fun..

I've seen 2WD vehicles in places that would scare most users of 4WD. It's more about the driver/spotter than vehicle in many cases.

I got a 3” & 1.5” lift and Falken Wild peak A/T, 285/70/17, I will definitely look into recovery gear, we don’t get much snow here in Southern Cali tho, but definitely good to have chains just Incase. Thank you for the feed back

Have you tried any of the trails going up Santiago Peak? I would recommend taking the Maple Springs Truck Trail. I know 2wd trucks can do that road. The views are fabulous.

I knew a guy that talk about how gnarly a trail was, so we went. Then we saw a civic driving down the same trail. Perspective matters.
