I replaced tires on my 06 sport last year at that time the spare was original so I replaced the tire then replaced all 5 sensors. I try to check all the pressure about once a month and it is possible to turn the tire in the cradle so that it can be serviced with letting it down.

It’s been a while (years). Thx for the reminder. And also a good time to grease the cable

I’ve never had mine out, so checked it last night and learned that whoever put it back last time really cranked it into the underside of the bed, leaving deep grooves in the sidewall.

I check the spare every time the tires are rotated, around twice per year. I add a few extra PSI so it's useful over the next 6 months as air slowly leeches through the porous rubber.

Here’s a dumb question. Is the spare a full size? I have never had a flat.

That’s exactly how mine looked. I have a new Wildpeak coming and I’m going to put some foam pipe insulation at the contact points and use one of those braided valve extensions to check pressure without lowering it.

Maybe that’s why my Tpms has been on for years.

Based on this thread I lowered my spare for the first time in 11 years and checked the pressure. The tire looks like it’s in good shape with no little cracks or anything but it appears to be a regular shrader valve, not a tpms. It had 7 pounds of air in it.
So I brought it back up to pressure and will include it in my maintenance program.

Mine had the same marks. It must be from the factory mounting not someone cranking it hard since I bought my truck new.

I flipped mine around and have the valve on the bottom. Easy to check the pressure.

the life of a tire is 6 years from date of manufacture whether you see cracks or not. 10 years max regardless of condition

2 of my 4 cars don't even have spares or a place to carry one. I don't think I've had a flat tire in over 25 years. I'll admit, I don't consider the tire pressure of the spare often. My kids don't even check the tpms indicator light in their cars. How long has this been on?!?
