I would have still bought mine even without the cooler. If I really felt it was needed I'd just add an aftermarket one. They're cheap and easy to add.

On my old 5.0 Explorer I added an external filter and extra inline cooler (total of 3, radiator, factory external and aftermarket external). For some reason that trans (4R70W) was real hard on fluid before that and would get converter shutter at 50K like clockwork. Trans started shifting better after the additions and later sold it with 200K miles with a trans that was still perfect.

I would have it done. Mine hit brakes on its own in the snow. Twice. The fix is sealing the sensor so it doesn't get water into it and trick the sensor. I had 33s and a winch behind the grill by the time the fix came out and they still did it.

I feel the same way. It should be important to anyone that cares about the longevity of their transmission. If you tow or not.

I looked before I bought this time. I was new to Tacoma on my 17' Sport and kinda screwed up. I bought it before becoming a member on the forum. What I wound up with and didn't get were the things that come on an Off Road. I know a lot people say the Pro is an overpriced OR, but that's only the case when you pay full price for it.

    What!? Okay that is crazy.

You got a mystery on your hands. Other than the fact that it seems other somewhat similar Tacos are not getting them.

They will spend the 12.5 mil paying their customer service reps to investigate complaints about missing tranny coolers.

You might not want to post that publically?

What damage can come from someone else having access to your partial VIN? I mean it’s literally on your windshield.

The rest of the VIN is pretty standard. Agreed, and I have known folks who had their VIN cloned from a work parking lot. But, might as well not make it any easier.

    Just my thought.

So the part is the same.

If toyota decided it isn't needed, why do some have it and only a few don't?

The parts catalog usually lags behind by up to a year. Since early 2020 model trucks still had the aux cooler, it's neither here nor there.

There's also a lot of inertia with manufacturing changes at Toyota. Side effect of "lean manufacturing", "six sigma", etc. is that lead times are stretched out. A simple verbiage change on a label carries lead times of more than a year at Toyota.
