Hi friends I’m planning a daring daunting hike from New England to Anchorage this summer
    Got a 2006 4cyl 2.7L With 3,500 towing Capacity plan
towing a 750 lbs teardrop sleeper. Gonna CRAWL out no rush giving myself many days when border opens. I plan on staying light and free maybe three four hundred in cargo. Getting a super tune up... any recommendations on suspension or slight power upgrades? My rear sags a bit and I’d like to even it out. Has Anyone done something similar with the rig I have? It’s all factory stuff so far but any advice is appreciated I’m a greenhorn Thanks!

Bring spare tires for truck and trailer.

Other than that, enjoy! Got a route planned?

Some like to go up the ALCAN and down the Cassiar. Or vise versa. Both are super pretty. Just be aware that as you get later into the season there's a good chance your schedule might be modified by wildfires. Lots of BC was on fire when I went through in August.

I'm just jealous because I want to go back. :) If it weren't for family in the lower 48, i'd probably have moved up there by now.

Pack, unpack and repack your trailer several times to get the weight more evenly spread on the trailer's axle rather than the tongue.

Just not too light on the tongue though. 10-15% of the trailer weight.

I don't have any advice. I just want to say I'm envious. That sounds like a great trip.

Another thing I thought of - figure out what your range is pulling that trailer. Gas stations can occasionally be rather far apart up there.

That’s a good idea I’m curious to see the MPG through the first leg. I’ll keep track through the east coast . Probably wouldn’t hurt to keep a gas can handy empty till I break the border out west and keep it full through BC and Yukon

Well welcome to TW! Hope your truck is manual, would make the trip much nicer. There isn’t much for power upgrades. Maybe pull the charcoal filter and toss a AFE pro dry filter for $$. LCE header for $$$$, not a huge power gain. A turbo kit is out there by URD Racing but is $$$$.

Also something like a scan guage is handy to help improve mpg.

Don't expect to win any races and you will be fine. I used to tow 2500# trailers with my old 150hp 3vze and it was fine. Would my 2017 be faster pulling the same trailer than the 3vze with no weight... yes... enjoy the scenery.
BTW border is open from what hear. watch out for the BC residents... apparentlly they have been slashing tires and damaging cars from people from Alberta (who live in "border" towns) they might not be nice to Americans as well during all this COVID shit.

Wow Greg thanks for the heads up. You guys have given me some confidence in my preparations all ready. I’ll be moving along best as I can for a turtle! Lol I don’t wanna overstay my welcome. Man this C-19 thing is just plain out nuts. I guess we’re all adjusting on the fly. Hopefully get some good weather and I’ll bring food so The stops can be a bit fewer

Whew man, that was a lifetime ago I had hellwig springs OP if your springs are already worn out, hellwigs may stiffen things up for you but you’re probably delaying the inevitable. If this is going to become a regular thing, might want to ping General spring or Deaver and have a custom set made.
