I saw it too. On my back down, around 1:30, there were about 6 young dudes trying to work on it. The truck there assisting was plugging the trail worse than the broken truck. Looked like the UCA let go of the spindle.

I’m curious how they actually brought that truck back down the trail and how many people did the piss off along the way. I’m sure they were blocking the trail all the way down.
I was stopped for a minute on my way down and a guy in a Sequoia stopped to ask me about that raptor. He was on his way up to help.

Honestly, anyone who get's pissed off because a truck was broken on the trail can pound sand. It's not like it was intentional or malice. Shit happens. Either help the poor guy or carry on.

    This

Can happen to anybody, and honestly if you offroad regularly it's not a matter of 'if' it'll ever happen to you but 'when'.

Now... When a hiker or something parks their car on the trail and blocks it off that's a different story. Winch/tow strap time

That's what my hilift is for. Jam it into the wheel well and see what happens.

I was up on maple springs today and saw a very similar raptor coming down as I was coming up. Wonder if it was him.

Been there in my Jeep a few times a few years back. Taco is not ready for anything that serious yet. I need some sliders and some better tires first.

That's scary place for that to happen. It's a long way down if you lose directional control and go over the edge...

It was right after a switchback and there was brake line damage too... Those kids are lucky, hope they got down safely.

I don't understand what they could have hit to cause that kind of damage. Maple Springs / Santiago Peak is pretty tame.

They were probably tinkering with it in the driveway, and didn't torque something to spec.

You don't need any of those for Maple Springs/Santiago Peek and should go! I took my stock Tacoma up there the same weekend I got it with the Goodyear prius tires and zero armor (attached a picture of my truck stock at the peak when I first got it). It's a very mellow trail, I've seen minivans up at the Peak recently.AF930F07-D147-4118-B689-06C4C23694B9.jpg
