A "delicacy" round these parts. I find it disgusting.

 

It's a type of saltwater clam. Pronounced "gooeyduck". I'm with @Wyckedan

right but what the fuck is it called? never seen it before.

 

I have friends who would free dive in edmonds/mukilteo for crabs. Pretty awesome, and you always hit your limit. They say it looks like swarm of bugs in the right area (I mean they are related to arachnids...).

 

I recall trying a crab from the Mukilteo pier many years ago and it had a faint fuel taste to it...maybe from the ferry/boats?

 

Geoduck, pronounced "gooey-duck". They're delicious if you like clam. The siphon is mostly used for sashimi, blanched to remove the skin and cut thinly. Body can be made into whatever you like.

Maybe? I don't think fuel would really affect them since it floats on top and they feed at the bottom, but who knows. I like to go crabbing at westport, and there's a ton of commercial boats and I've never noticed a fuel smell/taste to them.

 

We also have horse clams, which are also pretty damn big.


if you go out to the coast, on limited occasions you can get razor clams, which you use a suction tube to pull out. They're also quite delicious in soups and in fritters.



I'd be hard pressed to move anywhere else with abundance of fish and shellfish we have here, not to mention bird and other game to hunt.

 

I said the same thing...then i lived in AK for a year and now i have a hard time fishing here

 

Could you show me how to catch these dick clams? And other stuff? I'll provide beer

Anybody here from Spokane? Going to be parking my truck overnight at my Cousins house. Do I need to be worried about people stealing the following?
My lights
My wheels
My truck
Etc etc?

I like the little desprado it's cute. I'll have to check and see what the regulations are I don't have a fishing license

 

That would have been interesting if you'd been turning when it locked.

 

The best thing about clams and Gooeyducks is they make great crab bait. No need to back troll with your big Johnson
