I will, just called the guy and probably going to go with him. I'm hoping that a white slide with small gold accents looks decent. Apparent its easier to change colors with cerakote than it is with powder

 

Just got a new lower that I bought at ORW done. Clean as a whistle. $90. One week turnaround time. Picks up on Monday, drops off on Monday. I'd call them and go from there.

The only "gotcha" on the Glock slide is the firing pin channel liner, otherwise super-simple. You will destroy it getting it out, but they are like $4-$5 to replace. But it is much easier to do with a tool. Wes might be able to do that for you (remove/install new one) without charging the $50 it shows on his website....

Edit to add: sights, forgot about the sights! The front sight is easy with the right tool, a pain in the ass without. The rear can be "drifted out" with a punch, but I would NOT recommend that for night sights (you risk breaking the ampules.). A sight pusher is key for night sights....

 

I'll give him another call when I get time. I assume you will also have to take off your sights? That's another thing I don't know how to do. Might be time to upgrade those while I'm taking everything apart

First time getting this deep into her. Was a fun and fairly easy project. Can't wait to take her for a test drive tomorrow!

 

I think Primary Machine is ~2 weeks on cerakote turnaround. I had them mill my glock slide for an RMR and cerakote it (I think I got black of some sort?), plus add suppressor height sights, and I think total turnaround time door to door was like 24 days (including weekends, and the fact that I shipped it the cheapest/slowest possible way to get to them)?

looks like doing just a slide cerakote is only 45 bucks. Shipping will be ~18 or so if you want to factor that in.

 

Ya trying to avoid shipping at the moment. I dont want to be with out it for more than 3 days. My hopeful plan is to take it apart one day, drop it off the next, and assemble the day after

 

Thought this would be a good question to ask the gun community, My girlfriend and I were doing a campfire in the woods a few days ago and a jeep pulled up about an hour after we were there and two dudes started shooting 12 gauges at tannerite targets about 50 yards away from us which if you haven’t heard without ear protection is kind of ear rape asked them nicely to leave as there was another shooting quarry 5 minutes down the road but they refused any advice on how to deal with people like this and is there any law out there that states a minimum shooting distance from people without ear protection? And don’t get me wrong I’m completely pro gun and love shooting my rifle in the woods but I would never shoot near anyone let alone anyone without ear protection

 

Asshole people. You did the right thing. I don't have some magic advice other than become buddies with the local sheriff.

 

ANOTHER shooting quarry down the road? Implying you set up camp in a known/used shooting quarry? May sound like a nitpick, but if you set up camp in a shooting location, it's more on you, not them. Otherwise, it would be helpful to know exactly where you were, as tannerite targets are not allowed on DNR or WDFW land, nor NFS land. NFS also has specific restrictions on distance from a "camp site".

Follow the Forest Service recreation target shooting regulations and restrictions for discharging a firearm:

1. You are at least 150 yards of a residence, building, campsite, developed recreation site or occupied area, (you qualified as an "occupied area", unless as asked above, you decided to camp in a shooting quarry...)
2. You are not shooting across or on roads or bodies of water, or where people or property are exposed to injury or damage, or into a cave.
3. You are not shooting in any manner or place where any person or property is exposed to injury or damage as a result of such discharge. (could be construed to mean hearing damage...)
4. You are not firing any tracer bullet or incendiary ammunition.
5. You are not causing resource damage; don’t shoot trees, rocks, stumps, garbage or non-game animals.

Violation of these prohibitions is punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000 for an individual or $10,000 for an organization, or imprisonment for not more than six months, or both (16 U.S.C. 551, 18 U.S.C. 3559 and 3571).
