Yes, the TN-BST thread suffers the same geographical issue, but not a bad place to shop. I'm new enough to not yet see local(ish) events posted yet. Thanks COVID. So I'll keep watching and keep asking and eventually meet some of yall and get my tires muddy.

Yeah man sounds good! Seems like the Tenn BST doesn't get the traffic, so its not a bad idea to link the BST thread here, though me saying that might piss someone off(or it breaks some rule idk), but just seems like this is where everyone is at.

Great! Thanks for stepping up. Here's what's on my mind: I drove up to the Windrock General Store and bought a map. Whew! Great area, so many trails and activities. Don't really know where or if I should head our there. Not speaking down to the mall crawlers (we all shop at the mall *sometime*), are there other trail areas with more gravel or fire-road type roads (on the right third of the state) that don't require a license and make me feel that if I only pack 10 rounds for my firearm, I don't fit in. TL;DR I'm looking for a the Planet Fitness of Offroading, not a Golds Gym.

So I have been to windrock once, and that means I am not the expert. But I do recall the green trails at windrock to be a nice ride and there are no serious obstacles, kind of like fire roads.. The blue trails I did were not too tricky, but could be a singe or couple tough obstacles so it really depends on your level of experience, your ground clearance, and your willingness to take a scratch or two.. then I lost a couple cylinders and had to get towed to a shop, so I didn't get to go any further.

An area I recently learned about that looked cool, and more back road/fire trail looking was over towards the NC border. The road I saw pictures of was Hurricane Creek Rd, but I would like to do a little exploring over there myself. 35°43'17.8"N 83°00'03.3"W - ish.

Windrock seems like a real fun adventurous place to go, but I definitely need to "train" first. Plus I'm a bit partial to my sparkly new-to-me truck and don't want to get it scratched up too soon. So, I'm game to go one day.

As for the Hurricane Creek Rd suggestion, that looks much more to what I was thinking of. Funny we ran to Asheville over the weekend and noticed a couple of stop signs along the interstate. One of them may have been where the road hits the interstate? Anyway, thanks for the suggestion. I see it's nearish to the Max Patch Loop which I've been wanting to go hike.

Also, my son lives up in Johnson City and says there are some trails up/near Buffalo Mtn. Will need to check those out on the next visit, too.

me and a buddy down the road (3rd Gen OR) and sometimes my cousin (2nd Gen) hit up the PF of trails around here. The flame, Norris watershed (if it will ever reopen) and parts of Royal Blue. The trail to the Elk Tower can get you dirty but probably not break anything. Still on the lookout for a few more. We hit up an overlook somewhere close to Royal Blue that was along those same lines to get there too.

There are several trails/forest roads right off I40. Hurricane Creek is very easy to miss.

I used ABJ to get my rear bumper powder coated. They were good and on time. Some of their reviews weren’t the best (others were good) but I had a good experience. I have Had Rocky Top Powder Coating suggested as well. They did a good job on my neighbors sliders.

Lots of options. Good to know. I’ll research these and plan some “investigative” outings. Thanks!

Cut & broke off stuff. Prolific ziptie and tape usage.
Well, supposedly Memphis passed a resolution that will require everyone wear masks in public but hasn't publicized timelines.

F that. Once it's in effect, guess I just won't go into Memphis.

I’m all for public safety and accept the Doctors and scientists recommendations, but I thought the CDC indicated 6-feet OR a mask? Not a mask out in public all together, right? Then again, I’m traveling quite a bit lately and get all the different state, city and county rules confused. Was in Asheville over the weekend and nearly couldn’t find a place to pee. Memphis is looking better and better. :)

I’m just getting into mountain biking and need to get back up to Knoxville to ride. I always heard about the awesome trails up there but never got into it while I was in school.

Damnit I miss living in Knoxville. Nashville blows (except for you fuckers that live here too, I like y’all)
