Does anyone know if a Nissan frontier camper shell would fit a 2nd Gen Toyota Tacoma? Online it says they are both the same length??

Sorry for bumping this old post but I'm wondering the same thing. Guy on craigslist says his ARE MX shell he's selling was built for frontier but he used it on his '08 tacoma. Anyone else heard of this or tried it? Want to make sure the fit is right before i go through the hassle.

Most probably not, but I don't know for sure. There are many design variables in a pickup bed. It's not just the width and lenght that matters.

Maybe call ARE to confirm? Nothing like going to the source.

Pehaps the CL seller can send an image of the product tag on his MX shell?

The ARE manufacturer tag on my Gen 1's CX shell shows it was made specifically for a Gen 1 Tacoma Double Cab.

It would surprise me if the companies tooled up for different beds for every truck model, so there's likely a certain amount of cross-compatility.

But, at the same time, the odd bed side and end height differences on our Gen 2 Tacomas would be a challenge to seal for a generic "flat" perimeter canopy.
