The Laurel Highlands has 6 sites but I usually leave Pennsylvania too. Being South of Pittsburgh I can be in WV in less than an hour and at Blackwater/Canaan Valley In 2.5 hours and it’s sooooooo awesome down there!

Chux pretty much summed it up perfectly. And as far as western pa that falls into the 5+ hour Category again.

I lived up-state for a number of years and have done a lot of exploring in the Adirondacks. Tons of dispersed free camping. Its all DEC (blue dot symbol) which from what I have gathered is more akin to national forest, but state-run? You can camp (for the most part) almost anywhere that does not specifically post no camping signs. There is also DEC land in the Catskills, but mo' people=mo' rules.
I don't know anything about 4x4 trails up there. It wasn't until I moved south that I got a truck once again. I was relegated to the AWD mid-clearance dirt roads. A few of the camping spots I have been may, have potential, but I need to go back and explore. I have heard rumors of a few places near old forge as well.

FCS.net is amazing, been using it for years. HALLA

that gps map will work without signal. GPS works without cell service. Its satelite.

And now a days, we have 100 different ways to charge your phone/device. You can get a 5w solar panel just for that. I always keep at least 1 battery backup in my truck as well, not to mention my NOCO battery jumper, fridge, and second battery with solar panel, all have usb outlets on them. There really shouldnt be a reason for you to not have battery, unless you are purposefully trying not to.

I know these are all low likelyhood of happening, but it is possible. Paper map not gonna randomly freeze up/ lock you out/ stop functioning, paper map isn’t gonna get a shattered screen leaving it useless, paper map don’t give a fawk if it’s too hot or too cold, paper map will be a mess but it’s still gonna work if you drop it in a puddle. Like I said it’s all low on the list of things that could happen, but it can happen, that’s why when I travel were getting lost could mean getting dead I bring paper maps. Paper maps are a hard pill for most to swallow because most people will never need them headed to the local coffee shop or pepbois meet.

While BESF is permitted, it's free and easy to apply. I applied for permits in two locations my first time, but second time I didn't bother, but it was in the middle of winter and no one was out there. There are SO many camps sites in BESF that I think you would easily be able to find an unoccupied one. And if you are really worried about it, why not send the quick email for a permit? It's basically got everything you are currently looking to do and it's a large forest.

yeah last weekend I got a permit, it was the second to last campsite available. I will definitely be going back there. Already planning my next trip, just looking for other suggestions in the northeast.
My mom lives in Maine and I will be exploring up there next month. Maybe north Maine woods, but hoping for something closer to her and more coastal.

So in the new house we wanted to put the same flooring that's in the basement throughout the whole house. We went to rip the carpet up and the subfloor is fucked. I had to put new subfloor all throughout the main level. I did that, the new floor looks great. I'll put a few pictures of the floor in this. IMG_1407.jpgIMG_1415.jpg

Next comes new baseboard. I have the first few pieces all measured up. Go to cut it on my 10 inch miter saw... the baseboard is too big. Fuck. So I go to buy a 12 inch miter saw. The baseboard is still too big. WTF. Fuck Ryobi. Will be returning it for a dewalt that says it'll cut 5 1/4 inch baseboard and up to 6 inch baseboard

Get a sliding compound miter. Also, you should try laying the board flat

Am getting a sliding one. dewalt dws779. Also, laying it flat doesn't work when you have to do inside and outside 45 degree cuts.

You definitely need to lay it down and it definitely will make your inside and outside cuts at 45 degrees

I think it was @6 gearT444E that recommended this to me. I can finally fit in the garage and have a GDO at the same time. This thing is amazing!
