I love them as well and run them on my hardtail, but I've found that they're not available in the tires I want for my squishy bike. Hoping Maxxis keeps expanding the tan wall options.

I can't say I know much about tires at this point...and maybe I just don't know what I'm missing lol. Just running the ones that came on my Stumpy right now. I think Schwalbe has some good tan walls?

The right treads and compounds do make a huge difference in performance. You could go Maxxis and in tan wall; thats a tried and true combo. Looks like no tan wall DD options though.

I had a typo in my initial response. I meant to say HD3 not HD5. Sorry I didn't catch this until now.

Got creative and found a way to make the Chameleon with 29 wheels fit in my longbed.

Why not use a tailgate pad? Seems like you’ve used up all your bed space with this expensive solution, and not super quick to remove if you do need to use the bed.

By chance, would there be a marketplace for mountain bikes on this forum? I want a new bike but my taco took all my money right now.

Trek/Giant/Santa Cruz/Yeti/Specialized. Which one would be a good softail bike that won't break the bank?

There’s a bike parts marketplace but nothing for full bikes. Most people use PinkBike anyway.

When you look, you’ll probably see “soft tail” called full suspension.

Yeti and Santa Cruz don’t make lower end bikes so if you have a smaller budget stick to the Big 3. (Trek/Giant/Spesh)

I read that the tailgate pad scratches up the paint. I had originally were going to use the Front runner rack for a roof tent but decided to go a different route. This way i can use my tri fold bed cover that I have, to go over the carrier when not in use. I will prolly get the mount that allows the bike to be carried above the bed cover in the near future.

Cool. Wasn't trying to be critical, whatever works for you.

I'm a fan of the frontrunner stuff. I have a Frontrunner rails mounted to my Diamondback cover.

I’ve got an over the bed cover system. It’s a pretty sick set up. Pads won’t work for me because I have stuff under there often!

OK, dilemma that I need a crowdsourced answer on:

New frame and parts day = New bike day

    OR

Use that same amount of money and go on a Whistler, etc trip?
