I've searched through the old posts and I have seen plenty about the 3rd gens but nothing on the 2nds in regards to a TSB for the AT. A friend of mine has complained about crappy shifting in his 2011 and its either a tuning issue or just his specific tranny is on its way out. I dont have an AT Taco so I had no answers for him. Was or is their a TSB for the 2nd gens?

I'm not sure if you're friend is feeling something different than other 2nd Gen auto owners. If not, then I'd suggest a tune by HPTuners regardless if Toyota has something or not. Just like 3rd Gen auto's are driving better with OVTune's tune. If you're referring to the Shift Enhancements that Toyota came out with for the 3rd Gens, I'm not aware of any for the 2nd Gens. Honestly, when I had my 3rd Gen, those TSB's from Toyota didn't do anything.

Service the transmission first and see if it behaves differently. Some 2nd Gens come serviced a qrt or so on fluid.

I have found that Amsoil synthetic fluid can and will fix annoying shift problems with vehicles, I run it in my 2006 Tacoma Offroad access cab since I tow a lot, as well as a CRV that was having 2/3rd glitchy shift problems, after the Amsoil it was smooth shifting in all gears as long as I owned the CRV, which was 130,000 miles.

That TSB may only be applicable for the 09. Toyota will say that subsequent year Tacomas were already updated with the latest software. Your friend will need to have Toyota check the latest calibration ID to see if this TSB applies (through Techstream). It's probably not something covered for free, but if it can be updated, it might be worth paying.

Always mediocrity by Toyota. Bad trans, poorly tuned, lazy gas pedal, gas hog, transmission vibrations, ancient everything. They even made it worse with the 3rd gen. Cant even shift properly...
Fu king 2nd gen old turd ive got. My damn money was a waste. Like if i had for replacing this POS.

You clearly have no perspective on anything. You'd be unhappy with any product from the sounds of it.
