so I flashed in the premium stock 35 thx. w/ caveat that I was a dongle user and am now on p5f. I thought I cleared LV and AT, but it was late and I can't be 100% sure. but I did go through the process I was just expecting a bigger warning about unsuccessful attempts. (more on why later) I have a significantly loaded Sport AT with 35s and 4.56s so I fall in the gap for the gear specific tune. I felt I should remain on the stock gear tune. With the THX, I couldn't really get going with out a lot of throttle. Felt like I was running on 30% power. Pulled the tune and opted for non-thx since I didn't know what I was expecting out of that. re-cleared LV and AT (for sure this time and this is when I noticed how it alerts for unsuccessful attempts) Truck drives really good so far. the lurching when the truck is first getting going (on a cold-start) is gone.
question: should I have expected that out of the thx file? given my gearing and tire size, should I stick with the premium stock 35 tune? no comments on my gearing and tires... there is a method to my madness :)

flashed over to 2.0 reg stock with no issues!

i used to run 1.5 91 octane - does this 2.0 have octane learning?

i normally run 91 - but worried the premium needs 93

    to recap
S = nothing since no gear lock
    ECT = performance
ECT + S = tow (ie. disable atkinson mode?) - whats the benefit of this anyways?

I normally tow an enclosed trailer with my car inside - on 1.5 was no issues and heaps better than stock so hoping with the 'dedicated tow mode' on the 2.0 final it will be a lot better

For 2.0, Reg and Prem are OL starting points.

Reg covers 87-91 octane and premium covers 91-93? or is it different

    Here is what @OVTune said:

I ran 2.0 Prem with 87 for three tanks. It felt great from the get go. Then ran 3.5 tanks on 92 that netted a 2mpg bump.

Next day follow-up with the 2.0 THX Reg tune. Would like more power when giving it gas from a stoped point (like stop sign or stop light) basically I want it a touch more sensitive.

Yessir. With 87 you get all the driveability benefits. With high octane you get the full throttle power bumps.

On the 2.0 MT tunes, it was said that the Prem files had more ignition advance when using high octane compared to the Reg files. I don't know if that is the same for these new AT tunes.

Regardless, all the full versions that I tried felt spot on.

At this point that is going to be a Vf Tuner matter.

sortof stock. 6112/5160, pro wheels and a tune.
got my first ride in this morning on the DC beltway. everything is smoothing out per normal, so i cant comment too much yet.
what i do notice- start up hiccup- gone.
my gas mileage- was crippled a bit on the last final beta at 19ish mpg- hit 23.4 today which was nice.

Any dangers in running premium tune with 87 octane?

No danger other than it will run like crap until it learns the octane. What would be the benefit?

Guys the files are setup for:

"regular" for octanes 85 to 89
"premium" for octanes 90 to 94.

If you use 87 on the premium tune it has to learn backwards, and your performance also goes backwards.

    Sorry, but just for understanding.

Prem on 87 after OL will perform worse than Reg on 87?

    No it won't.

But everyone seems to want to do the opposite, which is run 87 on the premium files. If you do this your performance will be worse.
