Yeah I didn't expect you to be there that early. We will probably grab lunch in Asheville (probably White Duck Taco!) then go check in at camp. Or maybe catch another ride at Bent Creek depending on who is in town by then and what people want to do.

sounds good to me. I'll probably pick up lunch on my way in, I'm going to try to leave pretty early...but I already get up at 5am for work everyday...I need sleep sometimes lol

I did exactly that last year. While I was sad to miss middle/lower Black, I didn't really feel comfortable hitting the toughest trail of the weekend in the rain, and the beer at the bar made it all a little less painful.

It is what it is. Nobody is going to talk (too much) shit just because you bow out of one leg based on your own personal comfort level.

Until this very moment, I totally forgot you didn't hit Black with us. And if you had not said this I would never have remembered. Point is, yeah you may get some shit but nobody really cares, everyone do what's best for their skill level and we'll all make it safe to the end of the weekend.

I'm a little pissed, due to shipping delays, my new rubber didn't come in, so I'll be rocking some janky tires with most of the side lugs half ripped off. May be walking some stuff myself.

but will more than likely just send it

Departure time from Rock Hill TBD. Starting staging some things in the garage today. Should be able to load up most things tomorrow, leaving little to pack Friday a.m. Get up to camp around lunch? Would love to set up before the rain. I'm planning on stopping in Sycamore either on the way in or after setting up my tent.
Other than Kitsuma Friday, I couldn't remember the general plan for the weekend.

I think we can't really check in at camp until around 3. So I'm not planning to head over there before then.

You're saying you want to ride Sycamore on the way in?

Didn't realize there was a Sycamore trail - though it looks cool!
No, I meant Sycamore cycles. Bought our bikes there 2 weeks ago and I had a question about the brakes.

Oh haha! It's a fun little trail but only 3 miles so I was curious what you were in a hurry to ride it was about!

Sycamore is hands down the best shop in Brevard. I haven’t looked what their COVID hours are but they typically open early which is great because you can get service before it gets too hot. the hub doesn’t open til 10 and by the time you leave it’s hot and everything is crowded

Hmm, I'm a little biased toward Kitsuma, ride it every chance I get. But I might ride that Sunday as a last ride, if you want to save it till then. I'm riding it tomorrow morning as well with Dave and Jeff around 10-11, but I dont think youll be in town by then?

That said, I would not think either of them would be on your way from Tenn.?

I'll be there around 3 or so and I won't have time on Sunday. It's only a 40 minute detour and it's on my list a while now. Solo rides are good for the soul anyways. Then just meet y'all at camp or whatever around 6

So trail plan so far is as follows:Tomorrow morning 10-11, a lap or two of Kitsuma with Dave and Jeff. Lunch, possibly ride Trace Ridge, then check in at camp around 3. Hoping @cgstclair @backcountryj and @stronghammer will be in town by then. Since we will all have fresh legs, and Black cant be shuttled, we can head over there after checking into camp, will ride Middle and Lower Black and likely ride Sycamore as well.

Saturday morning, try to beat the crowd to DuPont to ride Ridgeline and Big Rock. Lunch. Then spend the afternoon shuttling Avery, Buckwheat, and Bennett.

Sunday morning some combination of Trace Ridge, Bent Creek, and Kitsuma.
