Wait... so you literally can't heel toe this truck...? I was considering having a spacer made so the pedals would be level and you could HT. That is shitty. that should have been deactivated on the manual. @OVTune can you fix that?

Edit: in my mind thats kind of a safety feature in a manual. you want to be in the right gear coming to a stop light or making a turn in case you need to make a quick maneuver.

I know, it really sucked. It would accelerate normally until about 5-10 mph then flash that warning “brake override malfunction”/“accelerator and brake depressed simultaneously” and I’d lose all power immediately. I haven’t had any other problems and love the truck so much otherwise, but that definitely left a sour taste in my mouth for a while. 25k later (50k total) and 0 problems since then, but the fact a completely stock shorted out tail light could essentially disable an off road truck scared me, especially because I almost got T-Boned. Coming from a 1st gen 2004 OR with barely any tech that never had any issues I was pretty PO’d.

I had it towed to the dealer cause I was scared to drive it (since I didn’t realize it only happened with the lights on). Apparently when it happened I was the first they had seen it happen to, so they *supposedly* were flying out a high ranking toyota engineer to try and replicate the problem after they gave me my truck back. Never heard any updates after that. I have MESO LED stage 2 tails now which give me some piece of mind due to longer life expectancy with LED’s, and I’m planning on grabbing some spares in case it ever happens again/if they ever go out while in the backcountry.

Just so the young ones know its from this.

In late 2009 Toyota became the subject of media and U.S. government scrutiny after multiple deaths and injuries were attributed to accidents resulting from the unintended and uncontrolled acceleration of its cars.
This is also why our floor mats are pined down !

My ford focus has that. hold the brake down hard/mash the gas to the floor for 3 sec and it will hold the rev at 3k or something / let go and you peel out .

Same issue on my "certified used" 2018 offroad!
Lost all power middle of the road. Limped to a side street and called for a tow. This sucks! I have had the thing 36 days.
    I miss my old 1996.
I understood it and could do some work on it.
And only one brain made the decisions....

Four hours and $250 later and it's the taillights. I had really expensive LEDs in the rear that after two years they obviously did not Capishe. When they swapped them out to OEM the problem stopped.

Aftermarket lights seem to mess with these trucks causing different electrical glitches.

I had this happen once in my 2018 M/T, I thought it was a goof in the system and also a goof by me. I went to downshift to a stop sign on a 2 lane road from 50 mph and had a brain fart and never put it in a gear so I revved up and let the clutch out on nothing and the warning came up. so I had to limp it back home to unhook the battery for 15 minutes and it hasn't come back in 10k miles.

just to add: I have no aftermarket lighting on my truck. Maybe I tried to heel toe but idk, it was months ago now that it happened

They finally came back to me three hours later. Trying to tell me that since I have a lifted truck (leveling kit) that the collision system isn't calibrated for the lift height

Had brake override parking at work this morning, and accelerator/brake depressed simultaneously on the way home. Found this thread, checked my bulbs, one of the filaments let go and shorted across the other legs. Pulled bulb and problem went away. Reinstalled, problem came back. So I replaced the bulb and problem has gone away.
