I just purchased a pair of black EBay Tacoma badges myself, couldn’t be happier for $20 for the pair. The main thing is to find ones that are the same dimensions as the 3rd gen OEM and have the “A” not filled in. You can’t tell they aren’t OEM.

My truck came from the dealer with the “blackout package”. Black emblems like these and a black trd exhaust tip.

    Agreed.

I've had my ebay knock offs on for almost 2 years now. No issues with adhesive or fading, they still look great.

How are you folks getting these things level? Eyeball test? I don't think my OCD is built for that, but if there was an easier/more foolproof way I'd return these overlays in a heartbeat lol.

Use tape to mark the edges before you remove the old badge to give you a guide for the new.

It's not exactly level anyway considering the truck comes raked from the factory.

Going to take every fiber of my being to not look at this when I head outside. The tape seems simple enough though!

If you look at both sides of your truck now you might find one more level than the other.

I see crooked factory badges on Tacomas all the time.

Thanks bud, They’re powder coated black satin. I also sanded down the chrome Toyota emblems and shot them a Metallic dark metal.

OCD produces good results; most of the time. My OCD was full throttle so it took the better part of 45 minutes to get it right, or at least what my mind believes it to be. This OP below posted some spec sheets with measurements. It may help those with crooked eyeballs or those installing with one shoe off.

if i decide i don't like the way these vinyl decals hold up to the test of time, i may try painting them myself. would like to powder coat, but don't have the money right now.

The easiest way to get new emblems on in the right place is to use painters tape to make a rectangle around the original emblems as close as possible before removing them. Then you can place the new emblems inside the rectangle and if you're really picky, you can use a small level to make sure they're level.

I wouldn't take the time or money to powder coat the emblems. It would be cheaper to just buy black ones off Ebay.

hey @Kairide , was talking about painting/powder coating the wheels... my whole truck is blacked-out except for the sport rims (under the vinyl decals, that is)

@Kairide lol, I used a speed level just to make sure the letters weren’t staggered just the slightest bit.

@mean_green Had I known there were decals I probably would have done that. But since the wifey gave me an inch by saying the Blacked out wheels would look good, I took a mile and had them completely powder coated.

I ordered these a few weeks ago and haven't put them on yet. I figure they're knock offs but they look ok to me. I removed my stock door badges so long ago so now I'll have to measure these on. The dimensions in the referenced Toyota document seems off because one side is given as slightly higher than the other? Hoping my OCD doesn't go into overdrive trying to get these on straight.

@TRok they look awesome and I’d have to say they look better completely black vs black/gun metal

@SmokeyTacoAZ Your truck is still fairly new, but you may be able to catch an outline of one of the letters in the Arizona sun just right to get a reference point. There was a very faint spot that I must have overlooked when polishing/waxing that helped me get started. Once I located the faint spots I used a plum-bob from a starting point on the underside of the mirror. I have a love/hate relationship with OCD.
