Dang, guy. I was tired from being in DC traffic 2 hours each way, and I was riding in a commuter bus.

    Holy Shit!

Worst I've had is I fell asleep on the way to my 3 straight 12s an hour one way job and woke up facing down a hillside. Luckily I was able to regain control and drive back up the hill and back onto the road. Of course as soon as i hit pavement my headlight flopped out of the socket and onto the hood blinding me. Here's your sign! :bananadead:

Yikes. I was young and dumb. The whole job was kind of a bunch of garbage. I can remember alot of long days there.

Just buy some clips off eBay with a foam washer on them. that way you don’t have to worry about fucking up your clips when you pull them or fighting with rubber washers. Also with these, No bondo was needed.

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/264019833291

And it really is an easy job if you’ve got a dremel. But I’m biased. I love the look.

I was just messin' Brother. More jelly than anything. My ceiling is only 8'. It's such a PITA and a waste. It should be a law that 9' is minimum.

If I was going to do this I would 4" screw mount 2x4's or 1x4's to the ceiling, then drill through them into the joists so I could 5" lag bolts. I have 92" to the bottom of the old florescent fixtures and 77" to the top of the cap at the tailgate end of the truck with it mounted. Actually, it might be 76" but I am being safe. So minus the 2x4's and pulleys, I definitely have room for this lift thing. The deal is, once this thing is on, I hope to never have it off again. Also it's not something I could do and let it hang in the garage. It would leave me 62" of space under it. I have a 2 car garage so................

I saw on CARID you can buy the fenders without flares and no holes. (at least I saw them for 2nd gens, should be the same deal) They were pretty cheap, but unpainted.

Already have the clips saved on Amazon! I'm also looking into just doing button head bolts and washers..I'll make a decision someday.

I was willing to do new fenders, but after painting it for ridiculous. And then what about the bedsides?

    It's neverending, I tell ya!

This was my first time buying “bulk” steel as opposed to cut to length. Damn it’s so much cheaper. I paid $55 for a 20’ stick of 2”x.120 square tube. Built a stand for my bender. Just need to get the hydraulic ram on.

Shame you didn't have a roof rack to cart it home on.

That roof rack is 3’ long and the tube 20’. No way I’m leaving 8.5’ unsupported on both ends lol

Oh fuck that gives me an idea though. I have 12’ of leftover tube. I can make a support that’ll stick up out of the hitch and can carry tube on the roof

    You would've been fine.

I got the LCAs from Toyota of Dallas (formerly TRDparts4U if you are a long time 2nd gen owner). They were $266 a side and $30 in shipping for the pair. I have had the Cam hardware since circa 2016 when I originally found out the cams were seized. But I think I got those through one of the parts contacts on here at the time. It was around $70 per side, IIRC.

This thread has a list of part numbers for the cam hardware.

EDIT: I have gotten Larry H Miller to match online prices before when I needed a passenger side headlight assembly. If you wanted to try and source them locally.

And these are the blades I used. They worked great!

Recently took the flares off my second gen and bought some carriage bolts (5/16 I believe) and rubber washer to go behind it so it won’t rub the paint as bad. But my plan is to buy color match paint to paint the heads of the bolts but as of now the holes don’t bother me.
